Bonilla was a great deal. It's only a bad deal because they were getting scammed by Madoff. I can't even blame them for falling for it because Madoff was the MJ of scammers.

Here's the thing though.
By not spending on the best talent and failing to win, you are ceding ground to the Phillies and the Mets...as well as other teams around the league.
You don't win, you don't sign players that fans want to see.....people don't come to the stadium as much...they don't buy as much apparel and memorabilia...and you become less relevant.
Less relevance, means less prestige, and less prestige means a lower valuation. And a lower valuation means less money and 'round and 'round we go, Jack.
