I remember watching fsu game, he started out rough but 2nd half you could see he was mobile and could make plays.. People were soo stunned how unprepared bama defense was for malzahn gimmicky bs but he wasnt as bad as some were saying.. started rough but 1st start type stuff..

Give me experienced qb all day, think we open with south carolina on road next year, wonder who QB killa gonna develop into top qb next season from portal.. :wow:

That should be PSU's protected rivalry bc it literally was up until the west coast expansion.

:mjlol: at their schedule next year:

At Mich
Vs USC

Somehow will manage to lose both

Their OOC scheduling has been awful for years now.

sit back and hope he can pull a Ryan day or at least beat OSU. Neither are happening, so They'll probably can their OC after this season and roll into next year and run the same story back

They don’t have OSU on their schedule for the next 3-4 years starting next year
OSU broke them

You also gotta look at it from the standpoint of….

This is who Penn State has been for the last 30 something years

From 1995 to 2011 under Joe Pa, Penn State only had 5 10 win seasons, only 3 BCS/Major Bowl appearances, and 2 shares of the Big Ten title. In addition, there was also a stretch from 2000 to 2004 where they had 4 losing seasons.

Since James Franklin has taken over. Penn State has had 6 10 win seasons, 7 NY6/CFP bowl appearances, and a Big Ten title, and only one losing season so far

I’m not saying that James Franklin isn’t a big game choker cause he absolutely is, especially considering the talent he’s accumulated but sometimes we look at Penn State as something that they’re not, kind of like in that Notre Dame or Texas A&M type realm.

It would be a risk getting rid of someone who can recruit and has had them on the cusp of a National Title game for an unknown.

On the other hand, maybe they’re a Georgia that needs their Kirby Smart, but idk.
Closer to Tennessee than UGA but I agree w/ your point.

PSU is at or near their ceiling they're consistent but not a true title contender. They're not a blue blood, and even in that second tier they're towards the back of that pack, behind the LSU, UGA, types. PSU has higher lows than what a program like Auburn has had but also has lower highs bc Auburn won a title.

PSU is a more consistent A&M with less money and seemingly less urgency to get to a title competing level. Agian, I think PSU's ceiling, even with a different coach, will be a playoff contender, with occasional final 4 or title game appearance.

I wouldn't count on them winning at UW either. Don't know what either team will look like but that is a challenging road trip.
