I will say even I wasn't high on resigning him at the time. I thought DeGrom was the one out of the bunch.

I was for bringing him back, but at a fair deal just like with deGrom. The wilpons just never made an offer

I don't think the Mets were ever gonna offer him 5 years and $118 million like the Phillies did. Wheeler definitely proved me wrong too. I thought that was an awful contract at the time.

I think they would have done 5 years, but 118 was too expensive for them. I also thought it was a big overpay but he proved everybody wrong
