Yankee entitlement is fukking hilarious.

When you handwaive a player having literally the greatest season in the history of a position, while leading their team down the stretch of a division title, and flirting with the AL HR record, and being an elite defensive player....because of OPS+...you've lost the plot

Ed, it’s not just ops+. He’s 80 points ahead in batting average and is leading the majors in that category. He’s 94 points ahead in OBP and leading the majors in that category. The only guy in the last 20 years to post a higher OBP on a season is Barry Bonds. He’s 83 points ahead in slugging percentage. That’s a cavernous gap and probably the highest peak we’ve ever seen from a right handed hitter.

He plays arguably the toughest position in the sport. There's a reason you don't see seasons like this from catchers.

Cal is responsible for catching arguably one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Why doesn't that matter at all? There's two sides to baseball as well.

It does matter, but not enough to offset an 80 point difference in batting average and a 94 point difference in on base percentage. If Judge was replicating his 2017 season I could understand and say let’s give Raleigh the award, but Judge is hitting about 45 points higher than that season which was already 36 points ahead of where Raleigh is this year and his OBP this year is also about 35 points higher than that season was. The gap offensively is just too big for me to overlook when Judge is also an excellent defender.

yea, I don't give a fukk about that

Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber are the 2025 regular season MVPs...deal with it

No catcher has ever hit 50 HRs before this season. Cal Raleigh is the first to hit 50 and 60 HRs as a catcher. Again, all while catching one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. I don't know why that doesn't matter. He's an elite defensive catcher too.

Giving a player extra credit because of the position he plays is stupid.

Outside of the home runs, Raleigh hasn't been a better player than Judge. And he wouldn't have near the amount of home runs he does if teams pitched him the same way they do Judge. And for the record, Cal's defensed has regressed. He's blocking pitches and throwing runners out this season at a much lower rate. Only thing he's still been great at is framing pitches. He's still living off his platinum glove last season, but he hasn't been that guy this season.

That being said, I fully expect him to win the MVP based off breaking the AL HR record and him being the best hitter on a team that won their division. But some of the arguments being made for him are silly

Statistically it's not even the best season from a catcher. Poseys 2012 has him beat. Judge is a victim of his own success. Stat that was wild was even if Raleigh hit 27 straight home runs with no outs he'd still have a lower ops than judge.

It's the most valuable player not most valuable batter. Those get the Hank Aaron award.

If judge wins or they get Co MVP, I won't argue, but running the staff, throwing out runners and getting hit by foul balls all game pushes him over the edge
