If we're being objective:

Cal has the better story,

Judge has had the overall better statistical season and the Yankees are better.

But I'm not gonna waste time trying to make a case for Judge winning MVP this year only because if he turns back into shyt come playoff time, who cares?
I hate this thought process. Yes Judge needs to play better in October, but it's a completely separate argument that has no bearing on whether he should or shouldn't get the MVP

Bonds stunk up the joint in October (His 02 run saved him from being looked at as a complete choker). Doesn't take away from all the MVPs he won (or should've won)

Not only does the postseason not matter for the MVP award, but a guy who has played 5 total playoff games and posted a .227/.292/.409 triple slash in those games is not the guy you want to use for that argument. Willie Mays had bad playoff numbers too. Just 1 postseason homer. Doesn’t matter. It’s not a postseason award.

I'm just saying I personally don't care if he wins or not. I do think he should win the award. I just hope this is something he's not preoccupied with.

Batting average has been a stat devalued in this era for all players except judge, and suddenly were judging with 1994 standards. Defense and working the plate and leading the pitching staff while being an elite slugger and clutch hitter just doesn't matter, when we're talking about a Yankee now lmao

Batting average was the big thing of why they gave it to altuve over Judge in 2017. Lets just be consistent. They also include defense in war and they get bigger bumps for ss and catcher and its still lower than judges.

Batting average was still valued in 2017. Organizations don't really care about it now.
Using WAR for an argument is lame. What the hell is a replacement player supposed to be?
It reminds me of when everyone wanted to give Trout the MVP over Miggy when he had his Triple Crown season.

Yeah but miggy also had an ops of almost 1.100 He cleared trout by about 100 pts. He also beat trout in obp and slugging. That's not this. Judge is ahead in all of them while being pretty close in homeruns/rbis while being walked almost 40 more times in 7 less games.
