Fears.. he’s like a baby Kyrie with athleticism.. I could see him being a problem if his jumper improves. I like edgecomb too but I think he’ll be gone by then

Interesting quote about Fears, which I know has been pretty much stated here, but this is reportedly from a Pro Scout

A pro scout told HoopsHype: “With Fears, you have a modern-day big point guard. However, he’s not a true facilitator; his average is around 4 assists, something like that. And how does that translate to the NBA? He’s just not a good shooter, which worries me. Is it that bad, or does it look like it could be fixable? Maybe, but he was below 30% from three.”

Tre Johsnon and Edgecomb are off the board.

Do we go Fears or Queen at 6? With Fears, swinging for upside, praying he can hit 3's, he doesn't turn 19 until basically Halloween, grew the extra inch from June '24 to May '25, maybe hits 6'3.5" to 6'4" if we're lucky by 2026.

I kind of want to take Queen though.

We also have the 18th pick.

Here's what Claude AI says. @thewiz

Based on the available options and the Wizards' rebuild needs, I'd recommend Jeremiah Fears.
Here's why:
Jeremiah Fears is the best pick for both immediate impact and long-term career potential:
  • At just 18.7 years old, he's one of the youngest players in the draft with tremendous upside
  • Already putting up 20.4 PPG and 4.9 APG on solid efficiency (.562 TS%) at Oklahoma
  • The Wizards desperately need a franchise point guard to build around
  • His 31.5% usage rate shows he can handle being a primary offensive option
  • Point guards who can create their own shot and for others are the most valuable building blocks in today's NBA
Why not Derik Queen?
  • While Queen is a skilled big (19.6/10.6/2.2), centers are generally less valuable as rebuild cornerstones unless they're truly elite
  • He's already 20.5 years old, nearly 2 years older than Fears
  • The Wizards can find serviceable bigs later; elite guard play is harder to acquire
Other options:
  • Khaman Maluach - Elite rim protector but limited offensively. In today's NBA, you need your center to do more
  • Kasparas Jakucionis - Good all-around guard but doesn't have Fears' upside or scoring ability
For the best career projection, Fears has the highest ceiling. Young guards who can score at volume efficiently typically develop into All-Star caliber players. His age gives him more runway for development, and the Wizards can build their entire offense around his playmaking as he matures.

Take Fears and build around him.

AJ wont be in the draft till next year, but didn't know where to put this.

One of the comments said "He gonna have 15 wives before the start of the fall semester" and I was legit like..
