I got two things.

Isn’t ABS kinda flawed because its strike zone is middle of the plate and not front like typically umped? The top and bottom of the zone isn’t adjust per player either right?

Second, I know he is bad at his job but Bucknorv is being made as the face of terrible umpiring when he’s not the only one. I’ve listened to several local and national shows this past week and his name is the only one that comes up. Whole lotta :mjpls: vibes

It's adjusted for the batters. Each player was measured. Buck is the longest tenured and has been top 3 WOAT for a while. The two above him are retired. He better up his game so people start focusing on other umps.

Pretty sure the top and bottom of the zone are adjusted per player hence why a lot of players' heights have changed. It being more towards the middle of the plate is fine by me when ABS also calls pitches that nick the smallest part of the plate that no one is that mad at when umps don't call.

Years ago I read an argument that umpires used to have a better view of the strike zone and plate when they wore the big chest pad and stood overtop of the catcher.

Nowadays the umpire stands to the side of the catcher at an angle. And some people feel that view isn’t as good.

I think by and large these umps today are solid. They get treated like the CIA though. When they fail, everybody notices. If they’re doing their job well, nobody notices.

I kinda wish they would get rid of the strike zone overlay on broadcasts. Same with the MPH graphic. But that’s me hoping for the old days.

Sometimes less information is better.
