I'm a little confused at the setup for this flashback, because I swore the story was that Shanks stole the Gum Gum fruit from a CP9 ship. Specifically, I thought Who's Who got kicked out of CP9 for losing the Gum Gum fruit to Shanks. But they're nowhere in this arc, and we're getting close to a finale, and it's implying the fruit's needed to beat Harald.

If I'm not mixing up my backstories, then I'd guess that Loki goes to retrieve the fruit, and it's already stolen. Then Shanks and Loki would have to team up to take down Harald instead.

But now I'm wondering if I just confused some old dialogue from Who's Who.

Two living people can't share the same DF powers (aside from the few cases of Vegapunk's artificial fruit shenanigans) so obviously the fruit Loki ate is different from the Gum Gum. The whole reason he's chained up in seastone in the present was over the misunderstanding that he seemingly murdered Harald for it... which this flashback has shown to be not true. It's almost certainly the same fruit Rocks wanted Harald to eat originally, and he didn't even know who Nika was until Loki told him so that's another strike against it being the mythical zoan Luffy ate.

That's actually a satisfying conclusion to the flashback. I didn't like them skipping the fight but I understand they did it to not spoil the reveal until we're back in the present. But this creature is going to be massive. It was bigger than Harold. Also he overpowered a booster Harold solo. So the key is just smashing them with Conqueror haki attacks. Sanji definitely needs to learn it or have it. Or Yamato needs to get on the ship

I'm on Dressrosa Arc. This is the first time I considered stopping watching. The only thing that is redeeming is Doflomingo and Law's backstory. This has way too many episodes and too many side characters and side plot lines.

Its probably best to just read it until you are current. Then watch the new season starting in April which will only be 26 episodes and probably better paced.

I honestly think the Dressrosa arc is the worst the pacing gets. They got close to catching up with the manga, so they were adapting one chapter or less per episode. The manga arc is 102 chapters long, and the anime version is 118 episodes long.
