from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
because Cotto and DLH are not that much bigger than Floyd. Canelo is probably a bigger fighter than Martinez naturally. Its Floyd's decision, if its me, I say let him come in at 180 if he wants....he gonna be so slow he wont have a chance of landing shyt.

:mjpls:So why cant Floyd just add a rehydration clause to the contract??

if you read my posts, you will see I suggested that several times already. I said Floyd "should" let him come in at 154 to rehydrated to no more than 162.

I understand you suggested this already... so is it safe to assume Floyd just avoiding a fight with Canelo since he can easily add a rehydration clause to the contract.. :youngsabo:

So Malignaggi is WBA Welterweight champion defending his title against Broner in June, but Thurman is fighting for the interim WBA title in July?

Humberto Soto Faces Hiroshi Nakamori on June 8th - Boxing News
By Miguel Rivera

BoxingScene.com has been informed that former champion Humberto Soto (60-8-2, 34KOs) will return on June 8th in Tijuana, Mexico against Japanese junior welterweight Hiroshi Nakamori (33-5-1, 20KOs). Soto has won two in a row since suffering a fifth round TKO loss to Lucas Matthysse last June. He shouldn't have too much trouble with Nakamori, who lost his last two by TKO.

Hugo Ruiz Takes On Giovanni Caro on June 1st - Boxing News
By Miguel Rivera

Former champion Hugo Ruiz (31-2, 28KOs) returns on June 1st against Giovanni Caro (24-12-4, 19KOs) at Estadio Morelos in Ecatepec, Mexico. Ruiz returns for the first time since last December's twelve round split decision loss to WBA "regular" bantamweight champion Koki Kameda of Japan. In his last fight, Caro lost a very close twelve round decision to former multi-division champion Fernando Montiel.

Mercito Gesta-Olusegun Ajose in Play For Late July - Boxing News
By Ryan Maquiñana

Mercito Gesta will return to the ring in late July at a venue to be determined in a 10-rounder against junior welterweight contender Olusegun Ajose, according to Gesta’s manager, Vince Parra.

“We accepted the fight a couple weeks ago, and now they’re working on the site, but everything looks set to go on our end,” Parra told BoxingScene.com.

Gesta (26-1-1, 14 KOs) is coming off an unsuccessful lightweight world title challenge against Miguel Vazquez last December on the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez IV undercard.

After the loss, he took some time off in his native Mandaue City, Philippines, before returning to San Diego, Calif., and making a change in his corner as he moves up in weight.

“He’s working with his dad [Anecito Sr.] more on conditioning and training, and I’m sitting back and focusing more on the management side,” Parra said. “I’m still going to be assistant trainer, but this is something he’s always wanted as a kid, especially since his dad is now here from the Philippines. With him moving up to 140 [pounds], it’s something he wanted to try out, and I support him 100 percent.”

Gesta’s father isn’t the only addition to camp. Mercito’s little brother Anecito Jr. (2-1), a junior lightweight, is set to make his American debut on May 24 against debutant Kenny McClain in San Diego.

“Mercito’s really excited about his brother being here, too, and I think it’s motivating him to work harder in the gym,” Parra said.

Ajose (31-1, 14 KOs), from Lagos, Nigeria, bounced back from a 10th-round stoppage loss to Lucas Matthysse for an interim world title with a points victory over Rynell Griffin last month.

“I watched his fight with Matthysse,” Parra said of Ajose. “He’s a tough, strong guy. He’s got decent skills, but at the same time, he’s beatable.”

As for Gesta, Parra is optimistic that his fighter’s best days are ahead.

“Nobody’s making any excuses for what happened in December. He’s trying to put the past to rest, and it’s a good opportunity,” Parra said. “He’s trying to get back in the mix to fight for a title. There’s a lot of good fights at 140 and this is the quickest way back to the top. It’s a new year and he’s ready to come back out and surprise some people.”

New fights being made, noteworthy fighters Hugo Ruiz, Humberto Soto and Ajose Olusegun

Scott Quigg-Yoandris Salinas WBA Title Fight Ordered - Boxing News
by Miguel Rivera

BoxingScene.com has been advised that the World Boxing Association (WBA) has ordered Scott Quigg (25-0-1, 18KOs) to face Yoandris Salinas (20-0-1, 13KOs) for the vacant WBA super bantamweight championship. The "regular" belt became vacant when Guillermo Rigondeaux defeated Nonito Donaire in a WBO/WBA unification bout last month. The two sides have until June 14 to reach a deal or a purse bid will be ordered.

I wonder if Quigg and Frampton will ever fight...........

So Rosado got cheated twice :ohhh:

Fight card 2morrow in Australia; headlining match is Will Tomlinson (undefeated Aussie IBO Junior Lightweight champion) vs Malcolm Klassen (Gave Robert Guerrero a very tough fight couple years back)

But the fighter of interest to me is a guy by the name of Sipho "Tsunami" Taliwe fighting.......some guy, I have no idea who he is, but I think Sipho Taliwe is worth checking out if you can. He's currently the WBC international Junior Lightweight champion, for what it's worth and straight upset and embarrassed the heavily favored former champ Mzonke Fana. From what I hear he's Africa's best kept secret......we'll have to see......

All I know is the card starts at 6am Eastern Time, on Australian Fox Sports 3 HD/Sports Play......something like 2 different channels that show the same shyt, IDK go figure that one out

I'll try to provide a stream if I find one

No see, you made excellent and true points. Lemme address from this angle though.

Lebron couldve went to the Clippers and teamed up with Blake Griffin...who hadnt yet played and likely still have gotten Chris Paul to come there. That couldve been a championship team right there. Lebron said "I am not here to save franchises" I was upset with him. Even more so when he decided to join the Heat. Was it good for B-Ball? Would many others attempt to follow suit? Well, Melo and Stat teamed up. Dwight teamed up with Kobe. There will be more.

What you are saying is true, but passé.

Boxing is already fukked up! And Floyd isnt the one who did it. Yall act like Floyd is the first. No. SRL from my recollection is the first guy to employ all of these marketing maneuvers and selective opponents.

Lebron plays for himself just like FMJ says he fights only for FMJ. Still, they have to be the best at their jobs. That means winning and defending championships. Floyd is a champion in two weight divisions. He just defended in one and he will defend in the other. If he doesnt, oh well. Go to his neighborhood and fight him. Its not like he needs Canelo. What the fukk for?

You cant blame an athlete for the state of the game. You can blame him for participation but its a moot point because everyone doe it. Only everyone else seems to be exempt from obligation or scrutiny.

this is true..

no. its not safe to assume that. Floyd cant avoid Canelo for 2 years. I have explained the economics of the situation. the only way they wont fight is if there are bigger money opportunities out there for the NEXT TWO fights for either fighter.

A fight in May is bigger than a fight in Sept. Canelo's people know this. This is all hype to build the fight or else Floyd wouldnt speak his name.

If team Canelo is smart, which I believe they are, they will face Cotto next, as they have been planning from the start. They are just saying Floyds name to hype a fight for 2014.

Canelo can make $20-30 mil by facing Cotto in Sept and :moneymay: in May 2014. If he faces :moneymay: in Sept he is only gonna make about $10 mil tops.

You guys are believing too much hype. Canelo aint ready to cash out yet, they just tryin to make you think he the boogyman so then you can really get pumped.

random blurb: I remember when I was on this phatty hard...it was a year before she finally lemme get dem gutz. the anticipation was so great...then one day she was like...its on. I didnt even know how to act when I slid up in there. tried to put my whole body in it.

its always more intrigue when you build the anticipation.

hagler >>> SRL :wtb:

yes. SRL was the draw, he made Hagler give up damn near every concession because he knew Hagler would. Even fought for the WBC only just so they could do 12 rounds instead of 15. Then he did the lil 30 sec flurry trick.

For the record I thought that SRL won that fight...it was a brilliant plan. Hagler was the better fighter though and SRL was just a gamesman and business saavy. Oscar followed most of SRL's blueprint. Then Floyd.

there is a 2-part interview with Hagler here...(link for transcript not working currently but should be back up)

Oh ok, so in two years I guess Floyd will fight Canelo at 154.

I hope your theory pans out

no. not two years. by NEXT MAY, unless there are more lucrative opportunities for both or one of them gets too outrageous with the demands. Canelo not in the position to ask for a bunch of concessions like Manny. he aint at that level. they may even fight in Sept....I highly doubt it though.

:mindblown:

yep...that tells me that if Broner wins....he will be looking for a fight for the 140lb title if he can get one and Thurman will be elevated to WBA regular champ, should he win the interim title.

thats how Haymon works. seen it too many times. bet that Broner will be going for his 4th title in as many weight classes should he beat Paulie. Looking ahead, if Broner gets that strap, I think he will be looking at Garcia next as his main target and if he cant get that, it would be the winner of the Peterson fight or Alexander he would go for next.

Haymon and GBP trying to corner the 140-147 lb market with titles...between those two weights they can make profitable fights for the next two years.
