-Adonis Stevenson holds all the cards right now...so many options, though he may HAVE to face Tony Bellew next, the mandatory.

Bellew aint chit tho.... :putamadre: I definitely think Stevenson puts his ass to sleep

After a razor thin fight with Cleverly, continual winning and beating Chilemba he's elevated himself to deserving of a title shot IMO. He's in my A tier, and currently ranked at #7 (subject to change due to the recent shake-up)

I wish it were with the WBA and not the WBC but he's still deserving of a title shot.

Stevenson's power may prove to be too much, but that goes for just about anyone. Bellew is a tough customer, though I wouldn't favor him in this bout and would rather him go after Shumenov.

Great weekend of boxing, 2013 has been really good to a nikka.

Lopez was really giving Maidana that work until he got overpowered. Great fight though.
Lara is good, but he never seems to really dominate guys like you think he should. He got hit a lot and made the Angulo fight a lot closer and competitive than I anticipated.
Gamboa has been underachieving for a minute right now. Dude fights a steady stream of C and B level guys tailor made for him and somehow only manages to look semi impressive half the time.

As for Dawson, i think the move to 168 ruined his punch resistance. Dude is pretty much finished right now. He couldn't even take the 1st decent punch Stevenson landed. I know dude can crack, but damn. Props to Stevenson though. He delivered that shot at the perfect time in both of their respective careers. I won't say Dawson underachieved though. I think he did pretty good for a guy with his skill and temperament. In the end dude was just another B+/A- level type fighter that had some mental chinks in his armor that showed up whenever he didn't put out his maximum effort. In addition to that his quickness and reaction to punches wasn't that great for a guy with his skills and attributes. If he can't get his distance established on you he gets susceptible to hooks or overhand shots and that pretty much happens whenever he fights like he's just going through the motions like in his fight with Pascal.

 that's eerily similar to how Tarver caught Roy, except Stevenson's eyes weren't closed :stopitslime:

Maidana Was Confident of KO Once Leg Felt Better - Boxing News

By Rick Reeno

Home Depot Center, Carson, California - Welterweight contender Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31KOs) says a shot to the hip in Saturday's fight against Josesito Lopez (30-6, 18KOs) was a serious concern in the fight. During the action, Maidana stated that his leg went numb and he had trouble moving for at least two rounds, which allowed Lopez to rally strong with big punches.

Once the pain in his hip went away, Maidana was very confident that he was capable of knocking Lopez out. The end came in the sixth, after Maidana dropped Josesito and then followed up by trapping him against the ropes and letting his hands go with hard landed punches.

"He hit me on the hip and then I was in a lot of pain. My leg was numb and I couldn't really move well. That's when he landed his punches. I was doing everything I could to protect my leg, because I was afraid that if I get hit there again then I wouldn't be able to continue," Maidana stated.

"I'm lucky that he doesn't that hard because [another fighter might have] knocked me out [in that situation]. He let me off the hook, but I didn't let him off the hook. Once my leg was feeling better [around the fifth round], I was very confident that I was going to knock him out. Robert Garcia really helped me a lot in the corner. When I told him that my leg was bothering, he said 'we came here to go to war' and that's what I went out there and did."

I KNEW something was up, Maidana lifted up his leg like he was blocking a kick in the UFC, but I thought maybe his leg was tight or something...cause he immediately just stopped moving

great weekend of fights
on a sidenote, all these upsets, losses, one punch knockouts, bad preparation etc in boxing really make you appreciate how good floyd mayweather really is. it really only takes one night off, or a lucky punch and you can lose to a fighter that isn't even better than you
this guy is 17 years deep without a blemish
its insane when you think about it

honestly, i like zabs chances better for this fight than the garcia fight. but if this fight comes off, arum will most likely try to get options on zab next fight. zab has always been an easy guy to work with.

I was reading an article

This is exactly why Zab had all that fukkery happen during the weigh in.

Zab doesn't have a proper mangement to negotiate small terms. Usually he just goes along with what ever GBP or Top Rank wants just as long as the money's good.

-Josesito Lopez...so much heart, will and determination...but he can't take these HEAVY handed punchers back to back like this. I like the kid, maybe a bout with some softer touches will do him good

ditto...i like the kid..he has a fighting heart and has had great fights in the last couple of years..its amazing that seeing him go from getting shafted against jessie vargas on an undercard and ko'ing mike dallas on FNF to being an main event on a card on a major network and selling out arena in his home state.....he can still be something in boxing...someone needs to show him to tighten up his defense and work on head movement and he'll be good..but yeah he needs a couple soft touches at 147 so the nikka's prime doesn't expire early

First two people I thought about him matching up next with were either Pablo Cesar Cano or Johan Perez who upset Kamegai on the undercard

I'm glad he's a draw though, cat like him deserves to eat :obama:

If Broner wins and vacates the belt, Lopez vs Malinaggi on the undercard for Cotto vs K-9 at Barclays makes some sense

Chad told Stevenson " Don't get ahead of yourself " but Chad was calling out the winner of Bute/Pascal after he beat Stevenson :laff:

Looks like Wladimir vs Povetkin is actually gonna happen. Is Povetkin a serious test for Wlad or another hype job

I've only seen Povetkin vs a :flabbynsick: Rahman, although he won Povetkins gut was :flabbynsick: esque
