Kovalev's Promoter: Ward's Side Not Responding, Deadlines Loom
By Steve Kim
On November 18th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) won a close and controversial twelve round unanimous decision against Sergey Kovalev (30-1, 26 KOs) for his IBF, WBA and WBO light heavyweight titles.
As part of that deal, Kovalev - who is promoted by Main Events - had an immediate rematch clause that they are trying to enforce.
Now, they are pushing to make this fight a reality in the first half of 2017.

Kathy Duva, the head of Main Events advised BoxingScene.com that HBO is looking to stage the fight on June 17th. She's reached out to Roc Nation Sports, who promote Ward, and heard nothing back.
"We sent a letter to Roc Nation three days ago letting them know that we are running up on a deadline. HBO prefers the 17th of June for the fight. We told them that per our contract that's the date for the fight and we sent them a notice basically saying lets get started working on this," Duva told BoxingScene.
According to our contract whenever we put something to them they have 72 hours to answer. It's been 72 hours, they have not answered."
There is also this important stipulation as it relates to the potential rematch.
"One of the terms is 120 days of the drug testing and we're coming up on the deadline to get started,"she explained.
So has Duva sent Roc Nation notices in the past and received any response?
"I had two emails saying, 'Yeah, we'll be in touch soon,' and then nothing," Duva said.

Robert Garcia: I Pick Thurman - But No Surprise if Garcia Wins
By Edward Chaykovsky
Veteran trainer Robert Garcia is really looking forward to the welterweight unification showdown between WBA world champion Keith Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) and WBC champion Danny Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs).
The highly anticipated unification takes place on March 4th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. CBS, in association with Showtime, will televise the contest.
Thurman is seen as the early favorite, due to his size, power and strength. Garcia, who was a unified champion at 140, moved up to the welterweight division in 2015 with a stoppage victory over Paulie Malignaggi, and then captured the vacant WBC belt in early 2016 with a decision over Robert Guerrero.

Garcia has come up big in several fights where he was viewed as a big underdog. Most expected him to get put away by Amir Khan in 2012, but Garcia stopped the Bolton boxer in four rounds to make a big statement. Then everyone thought he would get pounded by Lucas Matthysse in 2013, and once again Garcia defied the odds by dropping the Argentine puncher and winning twelve round unanimous decision.
Garcia has also faced a much better variety of competition when comparing their records. Thurman, although winning by TKO at the end, was vulnerable in his last fight with former champion Luis Collazo. The veteran from New York had Thurman seriously hurt with a strong hook to the body. Thurman was able to weather the storm.
Robert Garcia is officially picking Thurman to win a tough fight. But because of Garcia's ability to rise to the occasion, the well known coach would not be shocked if Garcia walked away with the victory.
"Thurman vs. Garcia is a very even fight. Garcia always has a way to win, he always finds a way to win and a lot of people count him out but he finds a way to win. I pick Thurman but it won’t be easy, and I won’t be surprised if Garcia pulls it out, but my pick is Thurman," Robert Garcia told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

Great post.
I would kill to see golden glove/am footage of some of the fights we hear about;Mikey v s T-Craw, Swift vs Everybody, Ward vs BATB, Anything young Floyd etc etc. you could see from this video Zab was pro material, he was doing shyt there that most pro's can't do without beating 15 pro jobbers.
And @Newzz the article you posted about Easter/Mikey, I agree with. Easters gonna get way bigger and if they fight at 140/147 (after Mikey beats up Big Bro), that would be more ideal. Let Easter grow into his dimensions, and let Mikey get more rounds, and maybe a testeven though he bombs out most at 135 RN.
