“It was disgusting, man,” Wilder said of how he felt when he learned Wawrzyk (33-1, 19 KOs) also failed a PED test. “It was disgusting. It was mind-boggling to just really try to understand.”

The 31-year-old Wilder views this PED epidemic as particularly perplexing because boxers continue to fail PED tests even when they know they must be tested to fight for WBC championships as part of the Mexico City-based sanctioning organization’s PED testing program, a partnership with the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA).

“When guys try to fight me, it seems like they’re looking for some type of advantage for them to be able to come and fight me,” Wilder said. “But before [the fights are made], I wasn’t nobody. I’m easy. It’s easy to beat me. They can take away certain things that I have. But when it’s time for, ‘All right, you fighting me,’ then now it’s, ‘Aw, damn. What I done got myself into? I need a shield and a sword, and some armor as well.’ So they go shoot themselves up, or get somebody else to shoot them up and try to have an [advantage] against me.

“But it’s sad, though. It’s sad, especially in the heavyweight division, because the division is based off of power. This is where the big boys is. And if you get hit by one of those over-200-pound guys, it’s not nothing funny, or fun, either, especially with 10-ounce gloves on. So my thing is, why would you wanna go put something in your body that can be harmful to your body, maybe not now, but over the period of time it develops? Especially if you continue to do so, why would you wanna do that, put something harmful in your body, and then come in the ring and try to fight somebody, when you can really kill ‘em?”

“I still feel like I have to prove myself, even though I’m a champion,” Easter told BoxingScene.com. “So I’m going in here like I’m an underdog, underestimated again, from a lot of people. So I’ve just gotta show my skills and prove everybody wrong once again.”

Cruz (22-4-1, 16 KOs) is a huge underdog, an optional opponent Easter should be able to defeat relatively easily. Not only is this his first title defense, it’s the first time Easter (18-0, 14 KOs) will fight in his hometown since he turned pro in November 2012.

The 26-year-old title-holder knows he has to win impressively not just to satisfy his supporters in Toledo, but television viewers who want to see Easter knock out Cruz.

According to Easter, the fact that he didn’t defeat Ghana’s Commey (24-2, 22 KOs) by knockout is among the reasons his win wasn’t appreciated as much as he believes it should’ve been.
Easter beat Commey by split decision (115-112, 114-113, 113-114).

Commey scored a knockdown during the eighth round, when Easter’s right glove touched the canvas after Commey connected with a right hand. A determined Easter also hurt Commey several times during that action-packed fight.

“I feel I don’t get a lot of exposure that I feel I need,” Easter said. “That says to me that I’ve gotta go out with a bang, that I’ve gotta finish these guys. From my last fight, I’ve really gotta finish these guys in style. You can’t go out there and try to get a knockout, but finish him in fashion.”

The 31-year-old Cruz has been knocked out once in 27 professional fights. The Bahamas’ Edner Cherry (35-7-2, 19 KOs, 1 NC) knocked out Cruz in the ninth round of their July 2015 fight in Tampa, Florida.

Kenny Porter calls Berto a ‘reluctant combatant’ in fight discussions

Showtime boxing chief Stephen Espinoza is looking for a date in the spring for a compelling welterweight clash between Shawn Porter and Andre Berto, believing the fight is close to being finalized and could take place in April of May.

Kenny Porter, Shawn’s father and trainer, thought the same but is now not so sure. Speaking to RingTV.com on Wednesday, Kenny Porter said he and his son were waiting for Berto to come to the negotiating table and described him as a “reluctant combatant” who doesn’t seem too interested in stepping in the ring with his son.

“I don’t think he wants the fight,” Kenny Porter told RING. “He was offered the fight and now we’re just waiting for Berto to sign the contract. We’re just staying in the gym and staying ready. But we are 1000% ready. We’re ready for the fight. We’ve agreed to everything. So, we’re just waiting.”

And while the Porters are waiting, Espinoza is planning. “Looking for a date,” Espinoza told RING of the matchup. “If it hasn’t been finalized, it’s very close and that’s looking like an April or May on Showtime. That’s our hope.”

’Last time we fought at the Amateur World Championships in Chicago the judges clearly favoured the home fighter,’’ said Culcay. ‘’They gave him point after point when in reality it was a really close fight for the first two rounds. He beat me and won the gold that year, but now it’s my time for revenge. We will be fighting on a level playing ground in Germany and I will prove I am one of the best boxers at 154 lbs.’’

“Hey Jack, remember 2007,’’ said Andrade. ‘’Back then we were just two young guys, greenhorns without much power, but I already made easy work of you. This time we’re grown men with punches that can hurt badly. You better get ready to be dominated again. Boo Boo is going to make your World title disappear!’’

Did The Ring Magazine's credibility damaged in your eyes since the GBP-racism case?
I mean The Ring is owned by GBP that's known. GBP conspired to use media surfaces to make PBC and Haymon look bad obviously starting with their own magazine plus the journalists who called Haymon the strong n word and a black Hitler is some Ring Magazine contributor (his twitter introduction says so...) and I didn't see any article from Ring when they would openly condemned this guy and his actions and overall GBP, tehy didn't write about the case at all they just tried to sweep it under the rug and kept deep silence.
Thus means that now it's pretty sure that they are just a puppet media outlet for GBP so for me they and their rankings lost credibility.

Since that case I realized that it's pointless to get my news from the Ring so I only read this forum, boxingscene (which appears to be more neutral even with Steve Kim being there which is a failure of the site) and badlefthook.

Do you know any other good boxing media? Neutral, refreshed often, etc...

why are the porters so eager to get berto in the ring anyways? :patrice:

Berto is the highest ranked PBC fighter in the WBC rankings outside of Swift as Champion, Khan (#1) who's looking for a tuneup, and Porter himself (#5).

A win over Berto jumps Porter up and he will be in position for a title shot sooner than later.

I think we should just have a poll where we vote our top 10 p4p plus have at least one sentence explanation (no trollin/stanning).....then tally up votes and place each boxer at the number he got most voted for.

why complain when we can do it ourselves?:banderas:

cant wait for @SuikodenII to finish this either.

If it's not posted here idk shyt bruh. This thread has inside sources. Think how crazy that is. Boxing scene probably don't got that.

I ain't going to ring magazine ever again. They can eat a dikk. It might even be fukk Canelo, but that might be a stretch.
