Dan Rafael chat wrap 3/31:

- Ortiz can get a meaningful HW fight with Haymon. He does become the mandatory for the Joshua-Klitschko winner. Haymon has a lot of HW's.
- Getting Rossy to fight Ortiz on a month's notice is a decent opponent. No one really wants to fight Ortiz right now.
- Ortiz vs. Breazeale? Would be interesting. Believes Ortiz finishes him off like Ugonoh couldn't.
- Linares for HOF? If he gets the 140 lb title for his 4 title in a weight class, we need to see who he beats and how he does it before we start giving him that praise.
- Linares is in his top 20 PFP, but not in the top 10.
- Doesn't give Sosa much of a chance vs. Lomachenko.
- GGG vs. BJS will not take place in the UK. If it happens it will be in Kazahkstan on June 10.
- No rush to make GGG vs. BJS, but believes it will happen soon. BJS won't walk away as Warren says, he is being offered too much money to do that.
- Over/Under 750k PPV buys for GGG vs. Canelo? Over.
- GGG could be slipping a bit due to age, but also Jacobs is an excellent fighter. BJS would be fighting GGG because he will be overpaid to let GGG have a shot at his belt.
- Hasn't heard any news on when David Benavidez's fight with Medina will take place. Hasn't heard any recovery updates on Jose.
- Jarrell Miller is having promoter issues and we won't see him fight until those get worked out.
- Any news on Rios vs. Ortiz? It has been discussed for this year for quite a while. Nothing has been worked out.
- Pacquiao vs. Thurman? Extremely unlikely.
- Huck vs. Briedis? Love this fight. Could see either winning by KO or decision. Heart is with Huck, head picks Briedis.
- Anyone who doesn't give JCC a shot vs. Canelo (due to his size, power, and chin) is a fool.
- Likes the Canelo vs. JCC undercard, except for Lemieux's opponent.
- JCC weighing 178 a month before the weigh in is a good sign.
- Best fight at 135 is Lomachenko vs. Garcia, but there is very little chance that happens and he sees no way it happens this summer.
- Doesn't think we see Garcia vs. Linares any time soon.
- How would he rate the WBC's "clean boxing program"? A big success for the WBC and boxing.
- Joshua vs. Klitschko is still having TV negotiation remain at a standstill with HBO and Showtime.
- Good luck to Kessler in his return, but wishes he stayed retired. He was fading at the end of his career. An extra four years off won't help.
- Best boxer: Morales, Barrera, JMM? At their peak, JMM.
- Kovalev vs. Ward is close to being done. It will be June 17th on HBO PPV.
- Rigo vs. Flores is going to purse bid. Very likely it will end up on the Kovalev vs. Ward undercard.
- Jacobs vs. Lemieux? Jacobs held up well vs. GGG, but believes Lemieux has better one punch power. Leaning Lemieux by KO.
- Was disappointed Jacobs decided not to follow the IBF's hydration requirements.
- Canelo vs. RJJ at 160? RJJ would murder him.
- Wilder vs. Parker? Would pick Wilder.
- Mayweather vs. SRL? SRL.
- At a BWAA event Mayweather and SRL got into a heated conversation about how a fight between the two would play out as he and Judah watched. Afterwords SRL told him that he would kick Mayweather's ass.
- Best at 135: Armstrong, Jack, Duran, or Mosley? Common wisdom says Duran.
- Provodnikov's manager told him he probably is done with boxing.
- Cotto and Pacquiao's promoters (and fighters themselves) don't seem to understand that the public are not as interested in their fighters as they once were.
- Thoughts on a Cotto vs. Khan fight? Meh.
- If we are honest Verdejo has been disappointing. That doesn't mean he can't win fights, titles, and make big events.
- Hearing that Colon is not expected to recover at all and will forever remain in a coma.
- Which fight does he prefer: Loma-Garcia, Loma-Crawford, Garcia-Crawford? Loma-Garcia.
- If Andy Lee and Danny Jacobs were to fight that would be solid.
- Still thinks Pacquiao vs. Crawford could eventually happen.
- Lomachenko wants belts and has said he will move up eventually. If they keep winning a Lomachenko vs. Flanagan fight is certainly possible.
- Hearns vs. Trinidad? Hearns wins in a classic.
- Is Joshua overhyped? He is good, but is overhyped based on his current accomplishments.
- A Thurman vs. Peterson fight is fairly likely as Peterson is Thurman's mandatory. Doubtful we see a Thurman-Garcia rematch any time soon.
- Hardest punches he has seen landed where the guy didn't go down? Mercer on Lennox Lewis, Vitali Klitschko on Briggs, and Lebedev on Toney.
- Murata and N'Dam are negotiating.
- Usyk vs. Gassiev in 2017. Doubtful, but it would be a good match.
- Putting Crawford vs. Diaz at MSG isn't a mistake. They are scaling the arena to hold 10k. Respects how TR is trying to build Crawford's fan base.
- Why doesn't he have Crawford above GGG in his PFP? One reason, among others, is in his opinion evaluating their best opponent, Jacobs is a better win/opponent than Postol.
- Good chance Beltran is the opener for Crawford vs. Diaz.
- Menayothin is close to Mayweather's 49-0...but most his opponents are of poor quality.

QQQ aka Triple Quack ducking saunders to keep the canelo fight alive. Smart move. :wow:

That doesn't expose anything of have anything we didn't already know. Just shows what everyone has been saying all along, that both sides are negotiating and are close to a deal. The thing it does show is that BJS is a good opponent to have in that he can actively market himself and help promote a fight.

Cotto fans have come to grips.....but Pacquiao fans don't seem to understand this:sas1:

Like I said, it was no shade...its more like curtains.:heh:

Floyd closed the curtains on him and now the credits are rolling on Pacquiao's career:manny:

Going out facing Bradley for a 3rd time, Jessie Vargas, and now Jeff Horn is not going to bring the fans back. You a Champion? You an ATG? You still elite they say.....then you gotta face a young strong hungry lion:hubie:

- If we are honest Verdejo has been disappointing. That doesn't mean he can't win fights, titles, and make big events.

I remember there uses to be discussions about who was better between him and Easter:mjgrin:

- Hearing that Colon is not expected to recover at all and will forever remain in a coma.

One of the saddest stories in recent years when it comes to televised fights:mjcry:

if breazeale beats ortiz like he did izu and mansour..i would be baffled

- Doesn't give Sosa much of a chance vs. Lomachenko.
i do..he's good clean hardworking fighter..need to make sure to look up some odds for him

- Jarrell Miller is having promoter issues and we won't see him fight until those get worked out.
he also should use this time to get into shape

- Good luck to Kessler in his return, but wishes he stayed retired. He was fading at the end of his career. An extra four years off won't help.
i like kessler but he's been sliding badly since that brutal first fight he had with froch (the GOAT Super 6 fight)..it cant be money why hes coming back

- Rigo vs. Flores is going to purse bid. Very likely it will end up on the Kovalev vs. Ward undercard.
i thought they just settled this today

- Jacobs vs. Lemieux? Jacobs held up well vs. GGG, but believes Lemieux has better one punch power. Leaning Lemieux by KO.
lemieux is way too basic for me to think that would be the definite result..jacobs prolly beats him

- Provodnikov's manager told him he probably is done with boxing.
as he should...he's taken too many beatings without going down

- If we are honest Verdejo has been disappointing. That doesn't mean he can't win fights, titles, and make big events.
the bolded agreed...the non bolded...we'll see but i see an spoiler type upset in the near future

- Which fight does he prefer: Loma-Garcia, Loma-Crawford, Garcia-Crawford? Loma-Garcia.
personally garcia-crawford

- Is Joshua overhyped? He is good, but is overhyped based on his current accomplishments.
nah :camby:..Femi :myman:
