Right now my list of the 10 current elite boxers would be:

Floyd Mayweather
Witali Klitschko
Vlad Klitschko
Manny Pacquiao (his next fight will illustrate if he is no longer elite)
Andre Ward
Sergio Martinez
Juan Manuel Marquez
Bernard Hopkins
Abner Mares
Nonito Donaire (in the same boat as his countryman Pacquiao)

10 fighters on the cusp of being elite:
Saul Alvarez
Danny Garcia
Lucas Matthysse
Guillermo Rigandeaux
Chris John
Tim Bradley
Austin Trout
Yuriorkis Gamboa
Roman Gonzalez
Adrien Broner

chris john :smh:..dude hasn't fought the best in his division in a min...the last time he did he was on brink of defeat courtesy of rocky juarez...feather is loaded right now..he'll never be elite..he's getting old

khan gonna choose floyd over allah:ohhh:

me personally, I am not a religious fanatic...but all I ask is be consistent. if Khan does that, it shouts of hypocrisy and proves that money comes first over ANYTHING. Khan has used Ramadan when it was convenient to him, namely in this "tournament"....which if it played out as supposed to, he would only have to fight 2 fights while Garcia and LM would have to fight 3.

WBC Confirm That Zhong, Cuello Ink Contracts For 6/28 - Boxing News
By Ronnie Nathanielsz

WBC minimumweight mandatory challenger Denver Cuello (33-4-6, 21 KO’s), a hard-hitting Filipino southpaw, will at last battle champion Xiong Zhao Zhong (20-4-1, 11 KO’s) of China for the title in Dubai on June 28.

WBC official Patrick Cusik has informed president Don Jose Sulaiman that “both boxers, champion Zhong and challenger Cuello have signed fighters contracts with the promoter in Dubai, KO Promotions.”

KO Promotions is headed by Dameza Taumafal who previously promoted a fight card featuring ALA Promotions boxers headed by Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista and Milan Melindo at The Lodge, Chi Garden in Dubai on April 23, 2010 where the local television coverage for ALA Promotions and partners ABS-CBN proved to be a disaster although all other arrangements including hotel accommodation, transportation and food were excellent.

Bautista who was very popular with Filipinos in the U.A.E scored a 6th round knockout over Thailand’s Saichon Sotompitak while Melindo won by a 4th round TKO over Komrit Lukkuomgmuekol.

Cusik reported that “both fighters were happy to sign the fighter contract” and added that a press conference will be held in Kunming (China) on June 6.

It was the city where Zhong won the vacant world title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Javier Martinez Resendiz of Mexico after Cuello’s manager agreed to step-aside to give the WBC an opportunity to btreak into the potentially vast Chinese market.

There was an attempt to give Zhong a voluntary title defense when the WBC board of governors disregarded the commitment made to Cuello as the mandatory challenger but that fight fizzled out and after a long wait Cuello will get his eagerly awaited title shot.

Cusik said he has been invited by the promoter to Dubai to speak to the event management group on 26 May and go through all the WBC requirements.

:obama: @ Cuello finally getting a world title shot

:wow: @ coming at the expense of China's first ever boxing world champion

the real hiphop.
see, we are boxing fans here...so we will enjoy the undercards. its not enough names to boost buys though. the main object is to sell the fight. and you dont have to have great names on the undercard if you have a bigger name opponent than Guerrero. I prefer the better undercards however.

but hey, it may have failed to reach 1 million. I would be surprised if it did but not shocked.

I'm pretty sure it did fail to reach 1 million, its a bad look for them to release numbers below that. They been rather quick to release official numbers for Floyd's fights (and Manny's too for that sake), last time I can recall we didn't get an official number was Manny vs Shane. Its now been what? 3 weeks since the fight and we ain't heard nothin official. I don't really care bout the number, I just want Showtime/Floyd/GBP to go get a bigger name for the next 5 fights, hopefully this will make 'em do so.

If Floyd fights Devon the undercard will be STACKED

Santa Cruz vs ???
Mares vs ???
Guerrero vs Ortiz
Floyd vs Devon

Something like that would be worth it :manny:

Well, lemme ask u this...hypothetically. Does lesser PPV numbers mean failure for Showtime? In other words, is 1 million buys oranges to tangerines for HBO compared to Showtime? One thing I would like to guess is that Showtime's sub base went up. Maybe 1 mil or slightly less is still a win for them. Wasnt Pac-Mosley on Showtime also? Maybe they dont want to release because the "perception" would be that they arent doing as well as HBO, when they may not need as many buys. Like I said, its just a thought, I really dont know but someone here may be better at answering that.

I dont see Floyd fighting in Sept. Devon Alexander is not gonna move the meter to even sell 1M PPVs.

i been saying that since he went to showtime. im not buying that he's fighting in sept shyt, maybe at the end of the year when things clear up(garcia-matthysse winner, devon and khan return) but not sept.

as far as im concern, im interested in going to bradley-marquez at the moment, shyt can change if gbp can somehow pull out a canelo-floyd.

hell yeah we're hyped for froch-kessler 2...im hyped....you need to do yourself a favor and go watch froch-kessler 1 breh..that was the best fight out of all the super 6 fights

Fight heated up in the middle rounds but the last 2 rounds were :whoo:
I see why Ward was able to dominate both. Neither has great defense and are particularly quick
I think 3 years later they'll start the action earlier. 6 PM boxing on a Saturday :ahh:
:youngsabo:

You'll only be gone for a week...

I had Matthysse winning 7 rounds easy (maybe more than that), I don't trust nor like compubox, they're shyt. DA had NOTHING for LM, he won 3 rounds at the most from what I remember, but just like with Kotelnik, he gets rounds based off bullshyt :birdman:

That's alright though........he's looking a lot better at 147 :ehh:

When you lose the bet to @synistr who will post the boxing videos/links :damn:

Does less then 1 million buys mean failure for Showtime? Hell yeah. They were looking at about 1.1-1.2 million to break even with all the money promised to Mayweather up front ($32 million), plus he gets a healthy portion of the PPV buys.
I am sure they chalked this 1st one up for losses just to get eyes on their channel. Starting with the Sept. fight, they cant eat losses like that anymore. Thats why Devon Alexander wont be getting a PPV fight vs. Floyd.
HBO has many, many more subscribers. HBO could eat that, Showtime can't.

If you so confident take the challenge :youngsabo:

:whoa::whoa: I'm just preparing for the inevitable

Pac vs Rios may sell for $5 on Chinese PPV. Does that mean we could get it for cheaper here :lupe:

JCC Jr vs Vera will take place at 165. Ward may get what he wants after all :gladbron:
