There's no way anybody on this green earth is going to ever get me to believe Manny weight drained Cotto. Making a nikka drop one extra pound from his last fight isn't weigh draining. Cotto had the belt, but he barely took it from Clottey and was the B-side of the promotion. Manny coming off big ass wins and had all the momentum. I also don't remember him shyt talking Hopkins or anybody else at the time for making catch weight fights. Dude simply pulled a boss move in which he was entitled too. Arum just threw in the whole "You can fight Foreman at 154 and get his belt after this fight" in order to pacify Cotto.

Cotto could have stayed at 147 and fought Berto or anybody else, but he went after the belt and the legacy of winning titles in 3 different weight classes. Then he turns around to face Margarito again making him fight at a catch weight of 153 or some petty shyt like that. :dahell:

The only advantage Pac had in the Cotto fight was the training camp cuz at the time Cotto and his uncle was beefing and he didn't have a real trainer.

Floyd may have a perfect record, but he's not a perfect person. Dude actually makes mistakes every now and then and one of them happened to be that hypocrite bs with the catch weights he was spewing all over the media. And real talk, you can respect/admire a boxer without falling in love with everything they do.

I've said from day one that the weight didn't kill Cotto against Pac more than the overall preparation. His towel boy as his head trainer didn't help and after rounds 4 and 5 all he told Cotto was "I believe in you...You can do it!!!" like he Rob Schneider or something. I think Cotto underestimated Pacquiao's power and once he felt it I think it mentally took him right back to

The Cotto situation was different cuz :deadmanny: was the challenger N had no belt....the WBO threatened to strip Cotto of his belt if he didn't fight at the catchweight....Cotto bytched about it N said it would weaken him N right after that Cotto moved up to 154

Its amazing to see how easily it is for Floyd to make big fights when Arum isn't involved:mjpls:

I noted that a few posts back.

dont get me wrong. Pac beat Cotto fair and square, had nothing to do with weight. we are just responding to Black Jesus when he brings up the Pac-Cotto fight as an example. Cotto was the champ and Pac had no title in that division. Its a clear difference. Floyd is champ at WW and has never lost there or at all for that matter. He also has a title at JMW which he can give up at any time should he choose. If Canelo wants the fight more on his terms he really needs to fight for the WW title or have the WBA enforce a mando out of Floyd...which wont happen this year anyway. The easiest path to a fighter is to become his mando. Canelo had no other leg to stand on so he must take what is presented to him.

:skip: was talkin bout he has soo much power. its all hype to sell the fight.

speaking of which...not sure if yall saw or not but Bayless and Smith were going on about the fight and....

:skip: was like :moneymay: stepped up on this one finally after running from :deadmanny: and Stephen A. was like :comeon:

the fact that the fight was made so quick and easy proves he wasnt running from :flabbymanny: and that TR was not easy to work with as far as getting the papers signed as opposed to GBP.

Rafael says TMT asked for 152. Stephen A. says TMT says that is false and Canelo asked for the fight and proposed 152. :skip: then said its 152 max weight come fight time. not sure where he got that from.

they say that GBP and Canelo begged for the fight. Probably because

got tired of fukkin around and said get me K-9!

Stephen A. was like 152 was a request of reasonable concern but doesnt mean Floyd is scared.

Basically, Canelo going to the bank on this one but his ass wont be be able to cash this check.

When Cotto struggles to make the weight he looks sluggish and if you remember back in his 140 days he often looked uneasy on his feet when he got caught, then once he moved up to 147 he was fine.

In regards to the Pac fight it was jsut a combination of factors, he still hadnt fully recovered from the plaster hands fight (he raped Jennings and didnt look that great vs Clottey who kind of quit in the championship rounds in the fights after that), the weight, the trainer issues.

 the other FOTY candidate was rios-alvarado 2 breh..HBO maybe slippin but they gave those 2 fights..bradley-provodnikov is still the best overall fight this year from both channels...garcia-judah was arguably showtime's best fight they've aired this year and that shyt only got interesting after zab took 9 rounds of an asswhoopin and nowhere near FOTY status

I'm ok with 152lbs. With all catchweight fights I see it as, "If you agree to the weight, don't make excuses later". Ward gets heat for making Dawson come down in weight (which is more than what Floyd is asking of Canelo) and though I'm a little critical of Ward, Dawson DID take the fight and said weight was no problem, so :manny:

I love Ray Leonard, but can you imagine Floyd asking Canelo to go to 147 AND defend his Jr Middleweight title too like how Leonard asked Lalonde to come down to 168 AND defend his Light Heavyweight title? :heh: Floyd would be lynched on the Vegas strip.
