Like I have said...I don't see BHop weathering the storm. Experience and chicanery only gets you so far when facing a talented younger, stronger guy with devastating KO power.

Exactly and just to add a lil more to what you said.

Hopkins has dealt with young dudes who had power. I don't think anybody can dispute that. Pavlik, Tarver, Cloud, Shumenov, Trinidad, and Pascal all had power, but there were certain intangibles that came with there power in those respective fights.

-Pavlik has power, but was fighting at 170 for the first time and even at 166 in the Taylor rematch he didn't seem to have the same snap on his shots and his power didn't bother Taylor much save for a body shot late in the fight.
-Tarver has power, but he was drained from being heavyweight champ Mason Dixon in Rocky 6,(same excuse he shytted on Roy for having) Bernard gave him the Karma beating though
-Cloud has power, but he never had pure 1 punch KO power, although he could hurt or drop you with one good shot, plus he never let really lets his hands go enough.
-Shumenov had power too, but he ain't have the skill or experience to really let it come into play.
-Trinidad had power, an he was the favorite, but he was still the naturally smaller man.
-Pascal has power and was quick an athletic, but he lacked the stamina and skills for it to be a bigger factor (it still was a factor tho.)

And for the most part all of those dudes were known as plodders (except for Pascal and he troubled Bernard the most out of all of those dudes)

Hopkins is beating all of these power punchers, but most of these power punchers were cut from the same cloth. Guys that had more than just power such as Taylor and Pascal ended up giving him a harder time.

I tend to believe Superman falls into the category of Taylor and Pascal. Guys that had more than just power to deal with. Pascal had power, but had an athletic quirky explosive style that was flawed technically. Taylor had power, but was real athletic with a solid skill foundation. Neither guy was just going to walk towards Bernard on some predictable power punching shyt.

Stevenson has real fight changing power that can KO you or hurt and drop you badly. He has proven to have way more power than anybody else Bernard has fought. He's also athletic with solid skills. He also lets his hands go. Him not stopping Doomsday isn't the end of the world and certainly doesn't make him look bad. Fonfara was tough as fukk and had heart. Very few cats would be able to weather that storm.

Stevenson is a whole different animal than all of these other opponents Hopkins has faced and we would be discrediting Adonis if we were to just say he's just another young puncher for Hopkins to face. He's shown that he's much more than that. If they do eventually fights it's.......

Anytime Hopkins really wants a fight, it's hard to pick against him because you know he see's something that he can exploit. I think the only reason people even hesitate to pick Hopkins is because of his age.

But Adonis is not a case of BHop going after a guy he sees a flaw in...Bernard wants to be the unified/lineal light-heavyweight champ and he has to fight Stevenson to accomplish that.

How do you know that though? Because he hasn't stated it publicly? His actions say it all. Hopkins has always been a great matchmaker & understands the timing of match making as well. He is very aware of who can give him trouble.

When Dawson was linear champ, Hopkins was not interested in that fight at all. It was just a bad style match up & he knew it. He didn't have to state it publicly, we all knew it. As soon as Pascal beat him, Hopkins jumped all over the Pascal fight.

He did not fight Dawson until he looked absolutely vulnerable. Dawson had already lost to Pascal & gave an uninspiring performance against Diaconu. Although he lost to Dawson, he tried to give himself the best possible chance to beat a guy that was a bad style match up.

Do I think Hopkins is cherry picking Adonis? Absolutely not, how can you cherry pick the linear champ? I do believe that he sees a flaw in Adonis & that he's 100% confident that he will beat him.

Imagine if Andre Ward was the linear light heavyweight champion. Do you believe Hopkins would fight him? Absolutely not, because he knows it's not the right fight for him. There's a reason he's repeatedly said he will never fight Andre Ward.

You same dudes hyping up Stevenson better give Bhop props when he whoops that ass. I don't want to hear that post fight slander you dudes like to give a guy after the fact.

I am down with #StevensonSuperSquad. I just love the guy's fighting style and his persona. He comes in great shape and he looks for the knockout...but he has some boxing ability. He is probably my favorite fighter to watch right now. Its weird because I resent him for KOing my boy Chad. (I was a Dawson stan). After that fight though...the subsequent fights he gave us.....:whew:

all that being said....I think it will be very difficult for him to beat Bernard. I have it a close to even fight. I probably will give Stevenson the edge because I really like his activity combined with his boxing ability. Stevenson is better all around than any of the guys BHop fought recently. So I expect him to do a little better....but its gonna be very tough.

just came in to say :rip: to the late great Matthew Saad Muhammad.

this guy was one of the most recognizable names I remember as a kid. I came in on the tail end of Ali and the beginning of the Holmes era. I remember seeing c00ney vs Norton on TV. the HWs were all the recognizable names. Witherspoon, Page, Carl the Truth (RIP), etc...
the most memorable names outside of HW were SRL, Hearns, Duran of course.

I remember Saad Muhammad was a regular staple on NBC. I used to watch guys like Starling, R. Mayweather, Bumphus, and....Saad Muhammad. these guys were quasi stars. Not as popular as guys like Pryor or Mancini. I think I enjoyed watching them the most though...especially Saad Muhammad who had no rival in his time when it came to excitement.

For those who dont know...think of a guy like Adonis Stevenson. Good puncher, good boxer, etc....Take that guy and have him getting beat up some times from pillar to post early in fights....then bam.....he would come back to stop his opponent. So many Saad Muhammad fights you found yourself saying...no way is he gonna pull this one out...and somehow he always did.

That was Matthew Saad Muhammad

BHop wouldn't have struggled with Fonfara but I'm going to let the :cape: squad cook. :sas1:

We just seen B-Hop DOMINATE another Champion in his very last fight (Beibut Shuemunov) and made it look easy.

Stevenson gets dropped by Barry Horowitz and shows a lack of stamina in the process, but B-Hop should be nervous?:dwillhuh:

Im smelling a coli cash bet with somebody in here:ahh:

If Bhop loses it will be a close decision imo, dudes in here talking about knockout :what: :camby:

I don't think Stevenson is trash but I'm not hyped on him like a lot of guys in here are, he has looked great in the division for the same reason BHop doesn't look 49 in the division, lots of jobbers in the top 10.

If Ward wanted to move up to 175 he would clean the division out, easily.
