This is really no different than Floyd telling Sergio he has to first move up and fight Andre Direll at 168 first if he wants a fight with him (if he can make 150) ...you got Khan blatantly ducking Alexander. . Swift scared to move up to 147 because he wants to "create his own legacy":mjlol: the bytchassness and faggitry spread throughout GB like a disease

Breadman's breakdown of Gary Russell Jr BEFORE the Lomachenko vs Russell fight. Talks about what he's hearing people on the inside say about Gary Russell Jr and their opinions on him:ohhh:

When I initially heard about this fight I said to myself one is moving too fast and the other has been moved too slow. I publicly state that I favored Russell. After making this statement I got all kinds of emails and text from colleagues in the business. I heard these things before but never all at once. No one is fond of Gary Russell’s ambition.

The word on Russell is he turned down a title shot against Billy Dib. A fight where he would have been at least a 3 to 1 favorite. Rarely have I heard or seen a case where an Olympic caliber fighter with approximately 20 fights turns down a title shot where he would be the 3 to 1 favorite.

“They” also said Russell’s excuse for not fighting in the Olympics was questionable. He wasn’t comfortable fighting a 10 round fight on HBO so he asked could he fight an 8. And that he consistently makes excuses about his hands just too shy away from tough comp. I wasn’t shocked by these statements but I was intrigued.

I took heed to the info I was getting but I try to be objective when it comes to these things. Here is what I came up with when I looked at Russell’s career path and his performances. I saw an ultra talented fighter who has not fought a top 10 contender in 24 fights and over 5 years as a pro. I saw a fighter that has been moved as slow as I have ever seen a fighter be moved with his pedigree at the weight he is fighting.

Traditionally weights below 140 and above 168 can be moved a little bit faster because of the law of averages. More fighters compete in the middle divisions because more men are that size. Simple.

Before everyone says Al Haymon is responsible for Gary Russell’s slow progression. See the careers of Rico Ramos, Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia. All fighters similar in age to Russell with similar amateur backgrounds that have fought much tougher. That tells me that Haymon was not slowing Russell down….

I also saw a fighter in Russell that if doesn’t ko his opponents early or completely intimidates them then he doesn’t usually score a ko or administer a brutal beating. For the level of competition he’s fought that is not a good sign. He’s not the same guy after 4 or 5 rounds.

He is however a well balanced boxer puncher with maybe the best hand speed in boxing and some nice pop too his punches. He has ability. I openly question his ambition and his size. Size. Russell may be a dense fighter with good muscle tone but his height and length are that of a flyweight. I am big on studying anatomy. Russell has a 61 inch reach, he’s listed at 5’4 but he has a long neck, so if you go by his shoulders he’s actually 5’2.

Gary Russell Jr turned down a fight with Billy Dib?:scusthov:

Asking for 8 rounders instead of 10 rounders?:what:

Making up stories about his hands hurting to not fight tougher competition?:dead:

I think Billy Dib would have given Russell problems too if not flat out beat him. I don't like dude's style and he fights stupid sometimes, but he's not a scrub and he's definitely better than the Kimbo Slice type opponents Russell been feasting on. I think his people knew that and turned the fight down because of that.

At least with taking an L to Lomo you can say it was a top 5 ATG amateur that beat you first. :manny:

Kell Brook seems like he's on the same path although his resume is slightly better.

why would you turn down billy dib :dwillhuh:

that would of been easy work, wish i knew about his previous fukkery before picking him against loma

@LauderdaleBoss Brooks team have signed the porter fight, its GB who are holding it up for some reason.

i think its because hes not actually signed to GB at all and they want to prioritise dates for their own fighters

nikka are you serious!!!:dahell:....I was ringside watching billy dib struggle with mike oliver..mike oliver is damn near the same built as gary with less power, chinny, and on the slide...and dib was lucky that he didn't get DQ'ed and to not lose that decision :russ:...dib is complete shyt

I'm dead serious breh. Dib in the big scheme of things ain't shyt, and Oliver was boxing his head off at times, but Dib was still better than them lames Russell was fighting. Dude also would have put up way more of a fight than those nikkas too. They didn't wanna risk that shyt. It all makes sense breh. Hell, I read that Bread prediction and still went with Russell cuz I believed he could still win, but he still came up short. (:mjlol: pun intended)

Russell would have lost a close one to Dib or struggled and looked like shyt getting a win which would have made his stock go down anyways. All of his mystique would have dropped. Dib wasn't worth the risk breh. Russell wouldn't have even gotten props for it either.

GB need to stop fukking up then and make this go down.

I like Brooks style, but dude been taking forever to step up. I think Porter is going to be too much of a leap in class, but it's now or never.

You won't get props for beating Dib unless you KO or beat his ass all over the ring like Gradavich did (I'm sorry I'm murdering his name)

I don't think Russell would have did either. Great management on avoiding that fight. :obama:

You always keep super talented and super fast undefeated guys away from decent skilled athletic spoiler types with ugly styles.

you're one of the cats i rock with when you say some shyt but i can't go along with a scenario outside of a lucky punch of billy dib beating gary russell..dib struggles with faded fighters and lost his title clearly to a last min replacement who was going on vacation and who later, trained properly, beat the breaks off him in a rematch..can't do it breh :smh:
