Alright, I'm about to rant

First & Foremost, Crawford did a great job & did what he had to do. He deserves full credit for the win, as Gamboa is one of the more talented guys around his weight class.

I had a feeling Gamboa was gonna lose this fight. I will now tell you my problem with Gamboa. It's his inactivity & the fact he's even at 135. I believe the whole point of moving his small ass through weight classes was to fast track his way to a Pacquaio fight. That's what TR was pushing for at the time & although he moved on to SMS now, SMS & TR have a good relationship. After his uninspiring debut at 135, they should have moved his ass back down.

When I look at boxing man, I see a lot of poor management of fighters. I mean just basic shyt. Trying to move fighters through weight classes too quickly just for financial reasons. I just hate looking at careers with absolutely no structure,

I've stated I'm not a Danny Garcia fan, but I've always respected the way his Dad has had an influence on his career, as far as development. After his last fight, his team was like okay we need to fall back. If you think about it, we are in an era in boxing where you can be a linear title holder, but not necessarily be done with the developmental stage as a fighter. Because if you notice, Danny was developing at a slow pace like any other fighter & when the Khan opportunity came up & he won, it opened up opportunities for bigger pays, thus your forced to take on tougher fights that your team normally wouldn't want you to take yet. There's pressure on him to go to 147, but it's delayed, because his Dad knows it isn't the right move. It's smart management, He has to get better at his craft. It's an interesting situation when you have title holders that need to develop. A linear champ should not be fighting Salka, but I get it.

Look at Broner. He was in the development stage & his greedy ass team had him jump 2 weight classes. From Gavin Rees to 147. The shyt just doesn't make sense.

I know Guerrero gets a lot of hate on here for whatever reason, but he was able to pull it off, because he had been a professional much longer. He's been a pro for about 13 years as opposed to Broner's 5-6 years.

your point about Swift is dead on. he was not ready for 147. why rush it? RULE your division. He is the King at 140 and he earned that.

as far as Broner...I somewhat disagree. if you have an opportunity to fight a light punching WW for a title for lots of money you take it. I thought he shouldve done a Sweet Pea move and snatch a title and come back down immediately. I saw bad things for him at WW.....just not so soon as his next fight.

Guerrero is a good fighter but his management was great. He is really not a true 3 division champion. He has to be given credit for what he has done and it was done effectively.

In regards to that post. I believe Mr Smoke weed was referring to Bradley beating JMM at the pinnacle of his career (after he got his biggest win) rather than his prime. We all know Bradley ain't fight a prime JMM.

After that it all comes down to opinion and what win you favor more. Bradley beating a JMM at the top of his career or Ward beating a weight drained Dawson.

I personally favor the Bradley win, because even though JMM wasn't prime he just had his biggest career win and is a future HOF. Dawson just had his biggest win, but then moved down to a division he hasn't fought at in 6 years. Dude was getting dropped by Miranda in sparring and generally looking bad leading into the fight. No excuses cuz he asked for it. Dawson was still in his prime, but the weight drain tainted that so it prolly equals out to a past prime JMM not fighting in his prime division. :manny:

you get my point though. its not absurd to think the Dawson win wasnt as impressive, especially at the time. Dawson had never been dominated. he was even coming on late against Pascal. I will say it again....even though he was weight drained....Ward outboxed him. which leads me to believe Ward wouldve beaten him at LHW. which is one of my problems with the win. I felt Andre shouldve fought for the LHW title.

That someone is me-

We have to remember that usually when marketers/promoters hype something up it usually turns out to be not quite something we expected (ie, a letdown).

The scenarios that seem to get the most play:
- He fights his next opponent at Barclays. (the most logical option IMO. He has been talking about it and actually has been close in negotiations)
- Fights Cotto for MW title (likely he would make the fight...however Cotto has said he is going to be loyal to HBO. Logistically not sure how it gets done.)
- Re-matches with Canelo, assuming he continues winning. (I always felt this was a strong possibility sometime. The point is not if people think Mayweather dominates him as easily, it is the fact that Canelo's fans will buy the fight. He's Money Mayweather for a reason. It will be panned by critics, but watch the buys - it will sell.)
- Khan in Wembley Stadium. (at this point most insiders feel Mayweather is pandering with his comments just to drive of interest in England and has no intention of ever fighting there. Floyd has always been risk adverse...fighting on someone else's home turf seems risky.)
- Pacquiao. (the fight everyone wanted to see and would still buy just off of hype alone. Due to Sho vs HBO and Mayweather vs Arum, most unlikely option IMO.)

Nah its about taking the smallest risk for the highest reward... Floyd dont have to defend his title, because the WBA will just create a new Super Duper Junior Middleweight title for him if he chooes to fight at that weight again..

breh...what is it with you and Floyd? seriously? it aint healthy. Floyd already beat Canelo. why he gotta keep giving this dude shots? Canelo knows who the best is and needs to get on with his life.

I never said he should give Canelo another shot nor do I think he should... Just pointing out that regardless of how much Canelo wins Floyd never has to really has to defend his title, and the WBC will never really strip him

quote me where I said he would run through the 140lb division. I'll wait. :beli:

:sas1:

I just think we are looking at a future great. Not because of his skill alone but because of his IQ and his mentality. he is patient and he has a good chin. a lot of guys have the skills to be great. they just dont have the intangibles. I been saying for a while.....Crawford will beat Broner. Although Broner has some good intangibles, Crawford is just the more skillful fighter...offensively and defensively.

@Skip b posted that JMM, Prov, Bradley, and Rios could beat him and you responded with

he is a problem for all of those guys. Gamboa has tremendous speed...something none of them have. he is also a better boxer than all of those guys. the thing about Crawford is...he will adjust to the style in front of him. he doesnt fight the same way every fight. he had to be cautious of Gamboa early because of the speed. Bradley would stand the best chance. I could see him outworking Crawford. Prov just got the shyt boxed outta him by a lesser fighter than Crawford. If Rios uses his boxing skill he should beat Chaves. if he dont, Chaves is gonna fukk him up.

You didnt say that Crawford would lose to ANY of em, just that Bradley would stand the best chance of winning.....but not that he WOULD win. What does that mean for the others as well? They all lose?

Rios is not to be taken lightly but he would have a hard time finding Crawford. I still question how much Rios actually has though. his claim to fame was basically overpowering smaller fighters. since he has been at 140 he has been taking some serious punishment.

thats a good fight. of course I am goin wit my dude but Algeri has a very difficult style, he is a fighter I say could trouble us due to his boxing, movement, and great stamina.

So, you're saying that you favor Terence Crawford over Adrien Broner, Juan Manuel Marquez, Brandon Rios, Chris Algieri, Ruslan Provodnikov, and Timothy Bradley......but Bradley would stand the best chance. You feel that way after 1 victory over a midget blown up featherweight breh:comeon:

its cool to stan here just as long as you dont believe the person you are stanning can beat anyone of note :camby: fukk is the point of stanning?

You can stan, but you gotta also realize that that's what you ARE doing. Being that I am NOT a Crawford stan, I dont see it that way and dont have to take the same views of him as you do. I seen a Junior Middleweight beat up a midget blown up featherweight....and get rocked in the process.

You brought up Gavin Rees before in regards to Gamvoa, but Broner has NEVER been rocked in a fight until he fought Marcos Maidana who was much larger than anyone fighting at welterweight (besides maybe Shawn Porter) who also has great power and was using the same gloves that even Mayweather wouldnt let him wear, because he said it had a lack of padding:mjpls: Crawford was rocked by a blown up featherweight, what happens when he fights someone his own size? That's a question that still has yet to be answered and we wont know until he moves up.

why are you concerned with 4 rounds in a 12 round fight? wasnt your boy almost of of the fight with Chino after the 2nd round? Gamboa aint no chump.

Gamboa hasnt fought in an entire year......and his LAST fight he looked exactly like a chump:ufdup: He didnt dominate the nobody he fought....he looked ordinary against a C level opponent and then had an entire year of ring rust on him.

Paulie got murked by Porter...but he aint out here masquerading :what:

No, Paulie isnt a featherweight masquerading as a lightweight....Paulie is a legit 147lber. He's been fighting at 147 since 2010 and was a Champion in the weight class. This was Gamboa's 2nd ever fight at lightweight. He's not a legit lightweight. Crawford said it himself.......that Gamboa is too small and doesnt have enough size or firepower for 135.

when you look at boxing, you shouldnt be looking at what happens in the first few rounds as the end all be all. Many also said Manny was on his way to stopping JMM. Was Algeri not getting fukked up by Prov??? Didnt it look like Stevenson was on his way to getting Fonfara out of there? The point is, poise and ability gets you through a 12 round fight.

I know that, BUT that doesnt change the fact that the fight didnt change upon what CRAWFORD was doing. Again, @patscorpio called the shyt perfectly, once Gamboa gets tired he gets chinny........and that's exactly what happened in the 5th round. He gassed out and Crawford was able to take advantage of it. He did what he had to do, but it wasnt a dominant victory to me to make me think that's he better than what I previously thought. He's a good young fighter, but that's it to me, while you think he's a future great. I didnt see GREATNESS from him in that fight.

Whether anyone at 140 should be nervous or not is on them but Crawford has a lot of positives to look forward to. He is not perfect though. Styles make fights and Gamboa was still undefeated and still a threat to anyone at lightweight. What I see in him is growth....not stagnation. He is getting better.

Lastly, it doesnt really matter how bad someone looked against their last opponent. It can give you some insight but its not an absolute bar of measurement. Its really subjective as hell. Trout didnt look bad against Canelo...yet Lara didnt look great against Angulo. Canelo stopped Angulo and Trout got shut out by Lara. Hell, JMM has had more problems from other fighters than he has out of Pac. What does that all mean? If just means that this is boxing....and the only way to know who does what to who is to get them in the ring with each other.

Exactly, and that's why Crawford beating Gamboa means NOTHING in the grand scheme of things, because there arent any Gamboa's at 140. Nobody is a 5'5 featherweight with short arms fighting there. The smallest "name" opponent (in terms of height, size, reach) is Lucas Matthysse he's both 5'7 with 69'' reach with ability to rehydrate up to 157 like he did against Molina Jr in his last fight:manny:

We'll see what he does against opponents his size

ok, point taken....but....its a moot point because he shut him out already. WBC aint about to strip Floyd. Floyd can vacate and nothing can really be said because he beat him in a fight that wasnt close. Floyd pimping the game. he only gonna fight for the most money. which is why he may fight Cotto.

"never been rocked" is subjective as hell. its a difference with Rees punching than Gamboa. Rees aint shyt to Gamboa.

saying I am picking/betting on a guy against others isnt saying he will run through a division. :heh: damn breh. I said he would be a problem for those guys. meaning none of them are gonna just walk in and expect an easy victory. I said he would beat Broner last year breh. you know this. :beli:

if Gamboa is only good for 4 rounds then why are you so enamored with what he did??? thats like saying Floyd victory over Zab wasnt shyt. but you probably think that too because you hate Floyd...so there's that. :stopitslime:

Yea it is moot, and I was actually thinking about the WBA not WBC.. and how they had to create "Super" versions of his belts because for whatever reason he ignores mandatories when its convenient to

@Newzz
this is where I will ultimately prove you wrong because you are always talking about size. its gonna take more than someone with size advantage to beat Crawford. you act like he is a crude boxer. what you missed was when he turned southpaw....although Gamboa landed some good shot....he couldnt stop Crawfords offense or boxing. he basically got out boxed and beat up when Crawford switched on him. dont put so much stake in how big someone is. this is boxing. if you dont have skills, you aint gonna win.

Im just going off this statement though.....just because you make more money and beat bigger names at another weight, doesnt mean that was YOU at your best. I totally agree with that:obama:

Floyd's biggest wins of his career are at 154, Floyd at HIS best was at 130-140

Size plays as an equal role if not more because like you said, Crawford turned Southpawnand was getting tagged, but really wasn't getting hurt and I believe size was a factor
