the property taxes have gone up because of businesses leaving the city...
its stated in a few of those articles.
Pritzker has done well?
then why is the population dwindling. Black & white Americans leaving and Mexicans moving in?
I mean I said Pritzker did well with the finances, but if you wanna widen the statement I think he's been the best governor of basically anyone's lifetime in Illinois.
Businesses leaving the city like it's some zombie outbreak scare doesn't really work here. Are you woeing the loss of fecal matter like Citadel? Or perhaps erroneously linking Boeing's investor carve out to anything but investor hollow out? To just say "businesses are leaving the city" is a hallmark of the turd factory of Illinois Policy Institute, which is no surprise to see it here in your chart.
Now, to the chart, it is a sour candy for two reasons. One, it comes from Illinois Policy Institute. Two, Rauner was by far the worst governor in terms of money management and was running without a budget as long as he could. So anyone who would be elected and had the intention to create some functioning form of government would have spent more by virtue of using brain cells.
Illinois population charting trends is nearly entirely dependent on Chicagoland. Despite the cost of living still being on the good side in terms of a global city, it is still higher than a random spot outside the collar counties. There is very little to this state outside of Chicagoland. Luckily, Illinois population growth is increasing as per the latest census data, and is driven by mostly smaller cities getting a population injection. Get ready to learn Peoria/Bloomington/Normal/Champaign, buddy.
Hispanic growth will continue in basically any population focused area in the USA.
The last snapshot quip is misleading, since Pritzker has ran 7 straight balanced budgets on top of accumulating extra for Raindy Day. The weed tax has been a big boon in particular.
If you want local ideas, then I suggest making the exercise of the TIF system more impactful for those ever-so-popular luxury builds. Instead of a one time fine, it should be yearly.
