Why? It’s too early to act like he’s some special antagonist. Took Chucky, Freddy, and Jason decades to get their docs.
Ehhh - he basically went viral. internet celebrity for a new generation, came out - got hot, got a few sequels.
kept a steady online presence.... it is what it is.
he didn't have to put in as much work as Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, ghostface, John kramer , etc

he has been around in shorts since 2008, though , so he is about 2 decades deep in the murder game.

Back then they didn't want him, now he's hot they all on him :dame:

Honestly, the Art actor changing from All Hallow's Eve to a professional mime was probably the key. David Howard Thornton injected so much charisma into the character. He's genuinely funny when he's not doing grossness or killing people.

I had been excited for it after Invisible Man...but the response from viewers has left me like, "I'll just wait till it's on streamers."
It’s a step down from The Invisible Man and not a flick I’ll be in a rush to watch again, but man, it has an incredible sound design that enhances the atmosphere. Wallfisch went to work on that score.

The Wolf POV struck me as a brilliant concept that ended up looking hilariously bad in execution. I caught it on the big screen, so maybe it doesn’t look as glaring on TV.

Speaking of Blumhouse tho, Landon’s new joint is currently sitting at a 90% on RT. It’ll likely Drop a bit, but I’ll be watching out for that one…

I saw a few movies since I talked in here.

Presence 2025

I liked the way they told the story, and I like the story itself...I don't think I like them together though.

Heart Eyes 2025

I really enjoyed this movie. I didn't like Werewolf Within that much, but had fun watching this movie. Cuba Gooding Jr. Jr. does a good job:mjlol: Nahh I'll stoop play and give him some respect. Hopefully Mason gets to be in other stuff.

I like those horror comedies like Freaky, Happy Death Day, The Final Girls, etc.:manny:

I still think about this movie. It's a tragedy that most Americans don't take animation seriously. This was a fantastic movie.
I feel like the movie's underlying theme is about a girl shedding her innocence, and becoming a woman in touch with her sexuality. This may rub people close to her, or even herself the wrong way. It also leads people to take advantage of her.

Am I reaching?

If anyone knows good theory videos on this let me know. Great recommendation to whoever gave it to me. Reminded me of the og Christopher Nolan movie Momento:banderas:

The animation on this is fantastic. If I never saw Inception or Perfect Blue I think it'd be higher on my list. The movie is still a great watch and I'd recommend it.

I rewatched Talk to Me 2023

I enjoyed it more this time around. Sophie Wilde's performance is great and she captures a person that is there, but never present.

I also rewatched Predator 1987

Goat movie. Jesse Ventura has the best lines in the movie.

Was thinking I haven't seen the Hellraiser films in a long while so due a rewatch soon.

Realized I've only seen the first 3 though and the 2022 remake.

So my question to my fellow Coli Horror Heads is this...

Are the other films in the franchise outside of those ones i mentioned worth watching or do they dip in quality drastically after the first few?

1 & 2 are undeniable classics. the 2022 rmake was pretty solid too i thought.

I've noticed a lot of people seem to not like the third one at all.

Do people here dislike the third one? i know the tone shifts heavily & leans towards the more camp & cheesy but i still enjoy it for what it is and don't think its THAT bad. What's your thoughts on it?

Cheers Horror family

Ps. this is still the best thread in the film room. You gotta love seeing it pinned now. :wow:

I got Perfect Blue on my all-time thrillers list and in firm classic territory. Definitely an elite movie, and I think it's amazing that it aged so well.

For underlying Themes, I go heavy into the Parasocial relationships and Identity stuff:
The MC built a fanbase as an idol, and is used to living up to their expectations. When she wants to break away from that, her fans freak out and she's left torn between her idol life and her acting life. But I didn't mention her ACTUAL identity, because she's not even sure about that herself. She's lived so often in the public eye and with a production team, that she can't even keep a grip on what's really happening and what's part of a production.

Then her lack of a real identity causes her to completely lose it once she finds that web blog that's explaining her day, but which she didn't write. It makes her question her own motivations. But the simplest answer is, "she wants independence." That's what she gains by the ending, and it's why she finally manages to separate reality from acting.

It's genuinely one of the most rewarding movies to rewatch imo, and I think the elevator scene holds up as an all-time great scary moment. It deserves a spot on those "AMC 100 greatest scares" lists.

Most of the Hellraiser movies after 3 are borderline unwatchable. There's one I place above the rest, which is Hellraiser Bloodline. But to put the rest of the movies in perspective; I went through a run of binging entire series for Halloween, Elm Street, and Friday the 13th. When I got to Hellraiser, I couldn't get through my binge because the movies were so bad.

P.S. I like the third one, but I consider it pure camp. The first two are genuine classics, the third jumps the shark but in a way that makes it funny.

This, the first four installments are the only ones worth watching.

Watched Presence...Cool premise, the plot would make for a good drama, but I don't think it should be listed as a horror. It's a family drama that winds up being undercooked because of the limited viewpoint instead of enhanced by it.

That said, there are some cool bits. Every time the POV closes in on a character and they begin to sense it...that's a cool effect. The mirror stuff and the Medium staring right at the camera because she can see the ghost is a great touch. I also like the bits of mystery scattered in it, but like I said before, it's too undercooked to pay off properly.

4.5/10 on my scale. My biggest note is that I'd love to see Lucy Liu in a genuine horror movie, because her one moment of screaming is the only time any of the acting performances really shined in my book.

I'm putting together a list of slept-on subtitled movies that I wish more horror heads would watch. What qualifies as slept on is pretty arbitrary for me, but stuff like When Evil Lurks, Train to Busan/Peninsula, Satan's Slaves, A Tale of Two Sisters...all great horror, but also pretty frequently cited. This is my top-five for now:

- Thesis

Think Red Rooms and 8MM premises but with a college student trying to writer her thesis. It always strikes me that nobody talks about this movie, but no one I ask has ever seen it. Meanwhile, the "dark web" or "forbidden content" genre has plenty of movies that get love, and I think this one is as good or better.

- Cure

This one's gotten more props recently, but I still don't run into many people that have seen it. Everyone talks about Pulse from Kurosawa, but I give this the edge as best movie out of his catalogue. I frequently mentioned it as the most slept on Longlegs influence. Absolutely elite movie imo, an all-timer.

- The Night

It's Haunted Hotel horror a la the Shining or 1408; but with a twist. It features Iranian immigrants in a haunted American Hotel; so, there's a bit of an outsider vantage that adds to the tension. I really love the cinematography and framing.

- A Record of Sweet Murder

This one is more of a "hate it or love it" addition, but I appreciate it more and more. It's found footage with an insane premise, rapid pace, and a pretty consistent threat. Some of the chaos gets borderline silly or campy from being over the top, but it ends with a trippy bang.

- Grave Torture

Joko Anwar gets a ton of love for Satan's Slaves and the Queen of Black Magic. I think this is outright better. For my money, the final act is the scariest part of any horror movie I watched last year.

I also have Noroi and Gangjiam Haunted Asylum as great films, but they have decent followings. So, I'm not sure they'd fit as slept on. Then there's Bluebeard and Hide and Seek...they're GREAT movies, but they're straight thrillers rather than horror movies.
