25. Oculus (Plex, Prime Video)
26. The Brood (1979) (HBO Max)
27. 'Doctor Sleep' (Netflix/HBO Max) It's in various countries but not on U.S. streaming. If you don't have a VPN maybe we can find another way.
28. 'Candyman' (1992) R.I.P. (HBO Max)

Two dates left.
Nice picks, Oculus is a movie I've been meaning to revisit and a Tony Todd tribute is wise. Two spots to go, if anyone wants to drop something it's time. I'll throw a final two up before midnight no matter what. Give everyone a couple extra days to get started early if they want.

Everyone should watch 'Cam' on Netflix. I think it's very good. I was wondering how it fits into the horror genre and let me just say that it does end up fitting in nicely the way it's built up and the tension. Madeline Brewer is very good as the lead, she goes through a lot of different emotions here. She plays a rising online camgirl and then some weird shyt starts happening. Don't really want to spoil the plot. The movie was ahead of it's time and you'll see what I mean by that when you watch it.

Six slots left. If you've got anything you'd really like to see, this is your last chance. I have a few backups in the tank.

Site was down before I could post the finalized list. I added one more, that's a fun K-Horror with some clear influences from Ringu and The Grudge. With that, we have a full working list in time for the start of the month. I can't wait to dive into this marathon.

Went to a Scream Unseen tonight, and the movie was Bone Lake. It was better than I expected. The first half takes itself a little too seriously and drags, but when we get to fukkery, it delivers. The audience actually whistled and cheered at a couple of moments, which I wasn't expecting.

In fairness, I think the general audience liked it more than I did. It took too long to go all out when it could have leaned into the campy premise a lot sooner. But it wasn't bad. The second half genuinely had fun moments throughout. Granted, none of the characters have any survival instincts, but that lends itself to the chaotic and campy bits that make up all the best parts of the movie.

It's an erotic thriller called Bone Lake...of course its best parts are campy and goofy.

My apologies I could not wait for 'The Substance'. It was on Netflix through VPN so a crispy version of it and my god it's insane, i loved it. Demi Moore put in an all timer performance and Margaret Qualley was fantastic as well, i read about the prosthetics she had for her breasts but i also read that she did all of her own dance routines and most of her stunts, she got herself in phenomenal shape apparently and grew up as a dancer. Demi was so good going through so many emotions. The gore and body horror were all timer great, it's incredible and gross. Maybe ill touch on it more when we get to it.

It's time fam! Kicking the month off with a micro-budget gem in Beezel. I love how they managed to get the most out of this. The crew made a short film in about a week, and when they screened it to others, the enthusiasm was crazy. So what was initially an anthology film, became three connected stories for a full-length horror. This 7 minute "making of" is pretty cool to watch after the movie (because it's got spoilers).

Now my usual quick recap of viewing:
I've watched this joint a handful of times already, because I'm so impressed by the effort and I genuinely like the story it tells. The way the cameras and film change as we move forward in time is cool; the aspects that feel Found Footage obviously hit for me, and the effects are really good for an extremely low budget film.

I still find the third part to be the weakest, which is unfortunate because it's a bit longer than the first two and gives us some finality to the film. But the scares and storytelling are still quality, it's just the least likeable main characters of the story. It's explainable since Nova is effected by the house and Lucas is on edge about his mother's death and her past. But it's still a tough shift from the caring nurse or the relatably weirded out Apollo.

What gets me is how the exposition in this film often comes across reasonably. A couple is reflecting and having a heart to heart; a documentarian is interviewing a weird dude, and a nurse is listening to recordings from her predecessor. It makes all the pieces fit without wasting time, and the weird vibes and scares never take a backseat.

I liked starting the month with a passion project, and something newer. It captures the aspects of horror I love. A perfect on-ramp for our healthy mix of classics, oddities, and fun horror.

I am doing some catching up here. I'll be getting into our list shortly. Last night I watched 'Hostel' and it's amazing how tame this feels now compared to when I saw it back in the day. I don't think I'm desensitized, a lot of films still fukk me up. It's interesting because this was known as one of the "torture porn" originators back then and now we see all types of wild shyt on screen again. I think this holds up for what it was aiming at. It works pretty well as a revenge flick honestly. It's more grindhouse than modern horror.

I still rate it Eli Roth's best movie, though I know some Cabin Fever fans who would disagree.

I love 'Cabin Fever' and it helps that some friends and I have inside jokes about it. I nearly picked it for one of my selections :dead:
It's a really good movie in its own right. Roth kinda fell off after that, Green Inferno doesn't work for me and Thanksgiving is decent but that's a long time after those first two gems he dropped.

31 Horror Movies for October ’25
1. Beezel (Tubi/Prime)

the first 2 stories are excellent
the pacing is excellent for an indie, the sense of dread just permeates the first 45 minutes and pulls you in
and has just enough gore to keep a splatter hound content.
Apollo's death is gruesome
once the last couple couple hits the scene, it sort of falls apart, though , but it doesn't completely ruins it.
ol' dude just could not ACT, i know this is a micro budget flick,
but if he could have just pulled a one step above porn performance, they could have stuck the landing better.
otherwise, great flick to start the run.

Now, if we talking about horrible pacing, it's off to watch Terrifier 2
