31 Days of Horror Marathon 2025 - Day Four: Deadstream
4. Deadstream (Tubi, AMC+/Shudder)
5. Messiah of Evil (Tubi, Plex, Pluto)
6. The Stepfather (1987) ((Tubi, Xumo, Plex, Philo)
7. Starry Eyes (2014) (Tubi)
On call this weekend and one of the interfaces decided to fukk up so i was on all night
so I watched the list until the processing caught up
4) Deadstream - as most of you know - I despise found footage, for no reason in particular, its just a preference
Phuck found As A Staff, movie studio And As A Muthafuken Crew,
when it came on and i realized it was found footage this was my reaction
With all that being said - I watched like 30 minutes at a time and would watch one of the other flicks until i finished this one
the movie is not bad, its actually entertaining, and thats saying a lot , cause i have had some battles in the past with some posters about found footage
maybe i'm getting more agreeable as I age
, it reminded me of a live action evil dead, and the statement it makes on the depths these cancelled streamers go to trying to win back fans was spot on
5) messiah of evil
very tense 70's thriller /horror, with an understated weirdness factor
the Argento /Lynch influences can be seen throughout
weird that the hotel room was 237 . made me think of the Shining
the mix of subgenres just work with this one
6) the stepfather
Terry O'Quinn acted his @$$ off in this move
"oh, right, Who am i?"
(I find he was Underrated as Peter Watts in Millennium and great as John Lock in lost)
Generally a forgotten 80's horror gem that i put up there with the best of the 80's
Nikka was on some GangStarr "ex girl, to the next girl", near the end though
how methodical this nikka was is numbing, but you see shyt like this in the news more frequently now.
May cach the sequel when i get more time, heard the third one was basura
7) starry eyes
this movie melds, body, slasher and indie cult slower paced horror excellently
Its like Black swan with a machete
the slow transformation of the main character was well written and well acted
oh, and her friends sucked, btw (snitching, petty ahh nikkas)
Quick question about Salems Lot- we watching the original 70's mini series
ain't that shy like 4-6 hours long? its been awhile since i watched it
I forgot about Salem's Lot being a two-parter. I'm up to that on my watch, thinking I'll watch part one than revisit the second half when I complete the list.
I think the Deadite vibes really help make Deadstream stand out as found footage. Most of them stay grounded for immersion, but Deadstream goes over the top and it pays off.
I'll save my notes for the others for daily drops. but I agree with most of your notes. Definitely on Terry O'Quinn having a crazy standout performance!
