Would you suggest to read them in that order, or read them in any order?
Judd winick and Kevin Smith are part of the same volume IIRC...that ran from 2001 to 2007.
Kevin Smith was on the first year, then Brad Meltzer, Then Winnick.

Jeff Lemire was the second writer on the new 52 reboot, so his mythology is new and there's no real need to read anything before it.
He also ignores the first 16 isdsues.

other worhthwhile modern runs:
The current volume (By Joshua Williamson and now Dan Watters) is also pretty cool.
The rebirth run by Ben Percy is pretty cool, a bit of a knockoff of Lemire's run.

The only two runs you should avoid are:
2007-2011 comics
New 52 issues (2011-2016) not written by Lemire.

Green Arrow also has classic runs in the 70's and 80's..I just gave you the modern ones.

Comic legends collide as Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Joshua Williamson join forces with Hayden Sherman to conjure a spellbinding Constantine meets Doctor Strange saga. Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo deliver a kinetic, emotionally-charged encounter between Nightwing (dikk Grayson) and Wolverine (Laura Kinney), where acrobatics meet adamantium in a story that cuts deep. Mariko Tamaki and Amanda Conner unleash chaos and charisma in a riotous Harley Quinn vs. Hulk showdown, while G. Willow Wilson and Denys Cowan electrify the page with a high-voltage tale starring Static and Ms. Marvel.

Not that anybody cares or that he has any fans, but just pourin out some liquor for Synch.

They kinda sorta tried to give him a strong push during the krakoa era: racking up his xp by 300yrs (literally) and his power levels by 300,000, positioning him as the quasi-leader next to Cyclops, and a love interest with female wolverine that felt more left-field than endearing.

Still, it was "effort", which was more than he's had for the better part of like 30 years. Alas, back in the toy box he goes or where he at?. Really (and not that it needs to be one or the other/crabs in the barrel/competition) but Bishop is the aboriginal-turned-full-time #1 negro that needs to be getting the leadership push and power upgrades. Instead of just being the less interesting black Cable

I wanted to clown Valiant for doing ANOTHER reboot, but Bloodshot was actually pretty good. Refreshing take on the character with a... unique choice of villains and setting (vampires)

Also wanna give the writer props for having an actually unique take on some vampires: They drank reptile blood in desperation/not knowing any better. The cold reptile blood changed them so they react to darkness the same way regular vampires react to sunlight.

They can't even close their eyes. The dark behind their eyelids starts eating away at them. :mjlol:

I had an idea to explain away all valiants reboots. Unity is actually still going on and Erica Pierce is still trying to fix the broken Valiant Universe. The reason it keeps collapsing is because she keeps trying to do it without Solar and Magus Robot Fighter in it. The only character to figure this out would be Ivar Anni-Padda/Timewalker, and that would kick off the story proper. It would be a good way to bring back the two characters and to honor Jim Shooter.

Another Hickman reclamation project that Marvel threw to the bushes :francis: Synch was one of my favorite characters of the Krakoa Era :mjcry:

Imperial #3 :whoo:

Grandmaster being of the players was a given but I did NOT see the other one being THAT guy :ohhh: and the ending :wow:

Hickman ignoring past continuity (or cherry picking what he needs) just so he can tell the story he wants always pisses the purists off but I'm always for it when it leads to this kind of dope comic :hubie:

:russ: just read it, and came to say exactly this.

Id also like to say that it seemed like Hickman used Grandmaster to explain his whiteboard/writing process. This whole comic as compared to his past stories, feels like instead of a million reveals, twists and turns, we're actually being shown the bullet points as we go. Like we're being shown the white board.

But this Hickman we talking about. No telling how this is gonna end.

So basically Hickman heard all our past complaints and was like “Cotdamn, here!”
