They using some ideas/concepts like they did for Infinity War (Thanos' Black Order) but not really using Hickman's roadmap to Secret Wars. They basically took the incursions and Doom -and mayyybe we get Molecule Man- but the way they are gonna be used has little to do with Time Runs Out.

It's a shame because they had like a 5-8 year money making roadmap if they were patient and followed just the main parts of his FF/Avengers run. Feige fumbled that one up.

I swear they just started throwing stuff out there. They thought they were just gonna win on autopilot.

the chucks and boxers look is either brilliant or retarded.
It's something I'd imagine a teenager would wear. I don't know too many teen boys confident enough in their appearance to wear speedo trunks. Knee-high boots is also a thing I can't imagine teenagers wearing.

When they redesigned Spider-Man 's suit for the PS4 game, they reimagined the boots as sport sneakers for the same reason.

I absolute hated that suit. It would have been fine if they did that for one issue, but they kept Miles in that ugly ass suit for a long time.

@Jmare007 I read an article that was mentioning something about DC losing the exclusive rights to their big names in the next few years (2035). Figured you'd know what this actually means for your average breh.

DC Plans 100th Anniversary In 2035, Lose Rights To Batman And Superman
Keep in mind I'm not from the U.S so I might be wrong on this. But from what I understand, the stuff that goes into public domain is the specific characterization from 100 years ago. And there's still stuff that DC owns, like trademarks, that will keep their characters "safe" from other people using them freely.

I'm pretty sure that article in wrong in that Marvel can just use Superman in 2035 in whatever comic they want. They can use the same character that was in Action Comics #1 but trademarks wont allow them to use "Superman" or the S logo or a bunch of different stuff that one would recognize as Superman.

The easiest loophole in that upcoming public domain fiasco is the fact that none of these characters are their pre-crisis selves .

Totally different characters. totally different earth's.

Nobody's gonna wanna read stories on a superman who can lift cars and jump over buildings teaming up with dikk tracy. But im sure that Dynamite Comics is gonna publish them.

:patrice: But merging super old school pre Adam west batman's Gotham with dikk Tracy's "The City" sounds like easy money.

Edit: shoulda read the replies further. @Jmare007 on the right track.

It's similar to when "Mickey Mouse" went into the public domain earlier this year. When a property goes into public domain, it's the property as it was when it was published. Therefore, in the Mickey Mouse case, only the Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse went into the public domain. The name Mickey Mouse, the white gloves, the white eyes, most of what we see as Mickey Mouse wasn't developed in the character in 1928. Only the way the character was depicted in 1928 went into the public domain.
It'll take another 50 years before more of Mickey's most famous characteristics go into the public domain. It'll probably be the same with Superman.

Much appreciated boys, the way that article was written had me thinking shiit was really about to hit the fan. The names they're losing, like The Joker and Batman, those can be used by anyone then? Just not the modern characterizations?

I think in those instances, trademarks kick in as well.

Like, Marvel or Image or whoever could make a character that looks like Joker but DC still has the trademark for "The Joker" so they would have to come up with a new name. It'd essentially be a TEMU Joker version that most readers would probably clown :pachaha:

And yeah, stuff like Killing Joke, Red Hood, ACE Chemicals and Arkham Asylum couldn't be used either because those were later.

If I would have to bet it wouldn't shock me that a new law comes about in the next decade so corporations have more control over their IPs. Though I'm not sure how feasible that is within U.S law :bryan:
