It would probably have the opposite effect on competition I reckon. Copa Libertadores is already the most prestigious cup in SA. Don't really see the incentive to add some US and Mexican teams to the pot.

Copa Libertadores is already 38 teams. Bump that up to 62 teams it would create a logistical nightmare, but I guess it would be cool somewhat?
