i don't mind saying it's a philosophical breakthrough in realizing that almost nobody is worth listening to

Yeah I hear ya, but I gotta admit I really do like reading people's opinions on things, just for opinion sakes. I like to hear people's viewpoints even if it falls in line with my thinking or it's something that is completely absurd or left field. I think that's why I really enjoy reading the comments below articles as well. I just like to hear what people have to say on anything

Of course there's a quality aspect to all of it. Like I could go easily read a book to get someone's viewpoint on something rather than some random virtual being on the internet, but there is sometimes well said things on the internet.

I like the opinion article discussion here, it's TRASH. So many people given a voice when they don't merit it. Everyone has an opinion now. It's why I don't respect most people's opinion unless they are absolute experts. Unfortunately, you saw a great example of this during the World Cup. Every publication under the sun had their resident top writers and stuff chime in on the World Cup.. and you knew they didn't know what the fukk they were talking about, it was only cause this was the "hot topic" of the month.

Like that new term, "hate read" - I know I'll hate this opinion but I'll read it anyway. That's what Penfield does.

Yeah hate-read is probably the most accurate description.

Something that also just popped into my head, my main qualm with a lot of op-eds is that the writing is just flat out boring if anything. I've abandoned a lot of op-eds just because the first couple of sentences put my brain on screensaver mode.
