What got me into him was his mixtape that was mostly cover songs or heavily reliant on samples, and that sorta made me wait for his studio albums and when he came out with music he composed himself, it was like listening to an entirely new artist

All i heard from him was Rose Island. Decent romp, i guess, but not really fulfilling. It's like listening to a Torae mixtape. I aint mad but I'm not grabbed by anything hes doing either.

It's good, don't get me wrong. But this is just another piece that falls in that realm of internet hip-hop. I can't really articulate it, but it really is. This album is so hyped but I'm just not hyped by it to be honest.

It's not really a laptop listen type album. Good for the car or workouts though.

It's not even really hard or anything though, and doesn't really fill me with any energy at all. I've been reading gushing reviews and they're all blown away by it. I dunno. It's just not that hard, it's more like a cartoon

It doesn't even take that much for me to be hype with rap though. I was listening to The Infamous the other day and that album can be rated by how many hairs stand up on your neck. 20 years down the road that shyt is still electrifying. I listen to Killer Mike, and while he's a great rapper, hearing him like, "A medal pizzipe blah blah blah" it's like...ok man :damngoodcoffee:

Perhaps I'm just a bit unreconstructed
