I'll be honest, I'll take Iniesta too. His ball control is even better and didn't lose the ball alot. I feel like the midfield is much more safer with him. Zidane lost the ball always trying to get his Bruno on. I think a Iniesta and Vieira midfield is just as formidable and probably beats Italy in that finals

Both class players and to each his own but imo one of the most class players ever. His vision is otherworldly, was the 2nd best player on the world's best team even at the age of like 35 and was the driving force with Xavi for what was prolly one of the best club sides ever assembled (imo he was the main source of the creativity in that midfield ahead of xavi). Has won everything there is to win on for both club and country, CL, League, Euros, even scored the winning goal in a world cup final. I know zidane has accolades with club and country as well and also a balon d'or but imo Don Andres was more enjoyable to watch and just looks so much more fluent and elegant on the ballLike he flows on water. That alongside his longevity probably puts him ahead of zidane for me, Zidane was kinda before my time and I was a little kid when he was balling but
I know Iniesta was voted best player of the euros 2012 but imo people dont bring up his playing in that euros enough. What a performance
They do have similar international career highlights. Both scored in World Cup finals, and been the best player of the Euros. Played in 3 major finals, both got bad hairlines. Usually did turn up in big games/when their teams needed them most.

Michael Cox is cheeky about that 96/97 quote about Zidane complaining. He basically played the whole year round 95/96 season and went missing in the Euros that summer. Bordeaux season started 30th Jun 95 and France lost to Czech on 26th Jun 96.
