Yep, with summer tournaments (WC, Euro, Copa America) the players are usually training for like 2 weeks prior to the tournament. Some teams here have only trained once or twice.



Which is kind of surprising considering the geography of all three nations and their similar political history under the French.

Where Tunisia lack in football they make it up in handball and basketball. So in some way it evens itself out. Also factor in the sporting cycles where one sport declines and another rises in its place. Like cycling in Eritrea is hot and has been for a few years

Algeria and Morocco do have an arm's race going on. So they might be in a lab cooking up ballers to just to compete/outdo one another

Smaller population and smaller diaspora than the Moroccans or Algerians. Majority of both of the latter squads are born in France (or Netherlands/Belgium for Moroccans) while Tunisia usually has more guys guys born in country and from their domestic league. The domestic league part helped their cohesion in past, similar to Egyptians, and Espérance especially usually good in CL. But never enough against more talented comp.

Yeah. Especially back in the day when we did have as number of sports halls and leisure centres. Like the perfect sport especially with our shyt weather. But I guess it comes down to didn't invent it don't care about it. Unless hosting the Olympics which took about 60 odd years to happen. It reminds me a country that loves 5 a side/indoor football socially for decades never took to futsal until recently always has me

This is a historical vestige due to the Italian invasion of the eastern horn in the 1800s. Eritrea was a part of the Italian “empire”. Italy simply invaded brought their bikes and left them after WWII. That’s why cycling is so ingrained in that region of Africa. They had bikes.

I remember at school when the weather was really bad they had us playing indoor rounders

Futsal started coming up big around the time when i was at uni, but even then it was only really the foreign students who even played. Had us at the sports centre looking down on the courts like 'ey why the ball so small? '
