Decided to install Google Nest, and replace my old thermostat. So far it's been an awful experience. I thought this shyt would take 15-20 mins... I'm having to strip and splice wires, then once finally hooked up properly, the nest is saying certain wires aren't detected. Then apparently some adaptor is needed and they have to mail that out now.

Anyone else run into these problems? Legit about to just re-install the old thermostat :russ:and say fukk it.
i ran whole new thermostat wiring

I’ve had the full homeowner’s experience this summer. Had to drop $2200 to fix my AC. Then another $2400 to put up a new fence in my backyard. Now I gotta get the crib pressure washed and clean out the gutters before fall comes back around.

Damn this is literally me. Except … I don’t feel like spending all that money on a fence

But $2200 to FIX your Ac?!? That’s the cost of a new one. What happened and what was the diagnosis :patrice: I hope they didn’t scam you over a blown fuse

I had to replace my evaporator coil. I have a home warranty with Choice but they didn’t cover any of the costs because the part was under the manufacturer warranty with Trane. My AC system needed a full recharge, which was the most expensive part. If Trane wouldn’t have been willing to cover the part then I wouldn’t have had to pay out of pocket for anything.

I pressure washed my house, it was pretty satisfying. You can just buy one from home depot for $100

I had to replace 32 feet of fence in my backyard. A windstorm knocked it down. In cases like this it's good to have connections. I have a Mexican homie that lives across the street. It ended up being 4 panels of fencing. We went and picked up everything from Lowe's. I clocked back in on my job, I work virtually. 30 minutes later the wife came upstairs and was like "he's finished already" She wasn't lying. I went downstairs and dude had the holes dug, fence in place and concrete poured that quick. Dude is a hustler. Cat named Miguel. And he and his son do plumbing work. He replaced all my sink pressure valves for 150 bucks. And did the 4 fence panels for 300.00 bucks

Man when I bought one my houses the AC went out the next year and that was the quote. But they had a program where they would replace your AC inside and out. No out of pocket service. It was $150 per month for 7 years. I jumped on it with the quickness. It comes to paying $2,000 more than if you would have paid for the equipment and having it installed. But the difference is that any issues the service it with no cost.

The techs even put free ugrades in the unit over the years. After I finish paying, I'm going to keep it until it conks out. I figure I could get at least 7 more years out of it since it's been maintained from day one.

Any of y'all have smart homes? is it worth it, the expense (rewiring, maintenace, repair,. functions well? Assume for someone who'll live in the home for years so resale value isn't really the primary concern.

I'm thinking about something where I can turn my oven on like 10 mins before I get home, adjusting temps from my phone, lights and such. (I don't own yet but want to think about it)

I have smart lights and appliances you can use home assist to tie them all together
You really don’t need to rewire anything
