Has a team ever just let a QB walk that had the type of season Darnold had? The Skins let Cousins walk but his final season wasn't nearly as impressive if you actually watched the games. Fans who watched Cousins knew he stat padded.
Only been 4 13-win seasons in Viking history, 8 if you want to include the 12-win seasons back in the late 60s/70s.
Team in obvious win now mode that let their starting QB walk for an unproven handoff merchant
A lot of other holes in that team that got exacerbated because of how bad Nine is.

Bill Simmons or Colin Cowherd said that QBs who get a ton of hype and see their draft stock skyrocket in the months after the end of the college football season and before the draft usually end up being busts. Seems like that was the case with Trey Lance, Zach Wilson and now JJ McCarthy.
