Except, they estimated they would make 10,000, paid him 3,000. He asked for an audit and they found out the podcast only made 8,000. So he made more than he should have. Then Rory said the audit was bullshyt.
This is according to Joe Budden.

he also said in the same breath that Rory and Mal will never see the numbers.

Is there anyone's word on the events of this situation out there besides Joe's?

Because that white person put in work for the podcast for 300 eps and helped build it to it's current status

So?

nikkas at their 9-5 put in mad work and help grow their companies all the time. Doesn’t entitle them to ownership because guess what? They were doing their JOBS.

I’m beginning to think some of these nikkas never worked a day in their life. Lol. nikkas can’t even grasp the simple concept of having a job and getting paid for it.

People acting like giving even brand new employees equity is unheard of. You get at least 4 or 5 figures worth of equity at any halfway decent tech job even if you’re coming out of college.

A bunch of clowns around the internet screaming about bosses and employees when they most likely have never worked a decent job with a competitive benefits package in their lives:mjlol:
I think the disconnect is having equity and ownership/being involved in the decision making and final say.

Rory himself said that Mal and him have equity in the pod and receive a percentage of it.

Having equity doesn’t mean you can go to the person running things and ask to “see the books” and question why other people are being paid this or that. That person can choose to give that information but aren’t under any obligation to do so.

If we take Joe at his word, neither Rory or Mal have come to him and said what their actual issue is.

As far as we know, Rory & Mal don’t have to worry about overhead and paying other people. They just show up, pod and leave. Hell Mal couldn’t even show up on time.

If Parks or Savon wanted a raise, Rory & Mal wouldn’t be they people they go to, it would be Joe.

If they receive a percentage of it, like you just said..........they are legally entitled to look at the books.

So?

HIS BUSINESS is entirely owned by nobody but himself. fukk a he gonna give any white person equity for just because they hang out? Makes no sense
This ignores the entire basis of executive compensation and companies having 401k profit sharing plans. Also in start up companies people are given equity instead of salary. This is just not true. That’s his business model but that is by no means a norm. And they’re not regular 9-5 guys anyway.

nikka that’s YOUR fault u thought they were partners. They didn’t build it. They didn’t create it. Mal wasn’t even there from the beginning of it. He was hired after other people got fired. They weren’t the first fired employees of the podcast. Marisa Mendez would have ownership rights if that’s the case. She tried to get paid off retroactive episodes and got dubbed. Lol

You're talking like the podcast was what it is now, back then. When mal came onto the show there were no contracts, marisa wasn't an employee earning a set amount. They were just friends doing something for Joe for free, joe talked about how he needed reliable people willing to show up for nothing, he didn't even know if mal was willing to do that for no guarantee of payment but he did. Rory was there within the first few episodes when joe was clearly still trying to figure shyt out and didn't have anyone but rory willing to do it at times.

Contracts only came into the picture when the money rolled in, if they joined the podcast under a contract from the beginning as employees then I'd say they need to get the fukk outta here. They were employees when money came into the picture, before that they were a group of friends helping joe build something.

They do have a valid argument for wanting a small piece of equity. Even if joe doesn't want to give it up, and he's not wrong for feeling that way, he should atleast understand where they're coming from.

Akademiks (the sheltered internet guy who studies hip hop fukkery online all day and talks reckless behind his keyboard) being able to ether and school Mal (the i'm way cooler than you, i'm all about respect and honor, trapped in the 90's guy) is just a reflection of where the culture is today. Kanye beating 50 Cent really changed the world, lol, since then the dudes we called "cornballs" back in the 90's and early 2000's have been a factor.

Look at Drake...a picture of him is probably next to the word "Cornball" in the dictionary...but so what? He's on top. The internet taking over opened the doors for all these "corny" dudes and "Chat nikkas" to be heard, Akademiks fan base is a bunch of dudes just like him, just without the platform, they love and support him.

Mal is probably disgusted at how this all played out, lol, he still thinks it's all about being cool and having some street allure and all that other old school bullshyt...there's a lane for that but the Cornballs have solidified their position in this. Salute to Akademiks, I respect the hustle. Akademiks is living proof that Fabolous' claims that "Having money can't make a corny person cool" was false, lol.

Bruh "corny" people been getting to the money it's not anything new. You don't *have* to be cool, real, smart, confident or savvy to make money or find success.

But he has been partying. He’s throw a few shots since Joe fired Mal and Rory. I haven’t saw CTG work with Joe Budden in over a year now. They did seem like friends at one point though.

I think Joe talking shyt about CTG podcast network killed any chance of them doing business, unless there is a crazy amount of bread to be made
That’s not him partying. He’s always measured and will take a slick shot but he doesn’t go in like Shultz does.
