I'm all for people's views on friendship. I would give someone the shirt off my back and try to remain loyal in all situations
but I'm not gonna have ownership of something I fought and built and then sign a portion to you. I will help you build your own foundation. People are sliding past the point of actual flat out ownership of shyt. Nike doesnt just give footlocker 10% of their company because they move the shoes. You look foolish pretending Rory and Mal built shyt when they were just there for the ride. Joe has been getting views since Tahiry, Marissa, Complex, Love and Hiphop etc. The show dont stop.
In a realistic world yeah you should be able to negotiate something slowly. But at the same point you proved you dont bring anything to the table by not actually bringing shyt besides rambling. There's been people before Rory and Mal, there's people after too. If you wanted to break your friend off, they would have to actually do something to break off with. If you watch comedy podcasts, the main owner will gain a liking to you and then give you a show, in the same studio under your own name. It not only pays him back but it gives you a free platform with a camera and editing team already in place. Yall think Dr Phil started on Oprah and was like "I want to own some Oprah shyt?" Does Bob Barker own Price is right? lol These nikkas are sitting in the space shuttle and not pressing lift off. They want Joe to buy the launch pad, maintain it and then fly them to the moon. Just so they can say ... yeah I want to own the moon too. Most of the world will never see the space ship, let alone get to fly it for free while getting paid too. All you had to do is record JBP Monday and then say "Hey I'd like to come by Wednesday and do an hour show under your umbrella" Joe would be like "I'll take a percent and we will pay the overhead for camera and sound and then project what your viewership to monetization ratio is and see what you are left with" Then you ask him... "look if this works, I'll let you own the rights to episodes on the JBP and sign a contract that holds me here for 3 years.... then I want free reign to keep my name incase things go left" Now you have an escape plan incase you feel some type of way, you can take your audience with you if you leave. In the meantime you collect from JBP money and your side podcast under his umbrella, everyone is happy. Joe gets a bigger network, you get ownership and paid more. The camera crew gets paid again etc. Bridget Kelly didnt sit around and wait for Joe to carry her on his back and shyt.
when you talk about % of profits even... you'd have to know before or after the overhead. Lets say Joe was slicing you up a little bit to pay extra shyt and you werent getting 100% you only got 75% or 80% ... You would still come out looking like an idiot because you are taking a quick 20% back (not including lawyer fees) just to crash and burn your chances at free money for years to come. It sounds wild I know, but would you rather fight and be fired over 20% or keep building and get another 80% for next year and then 80% for the next year etc. You can always audit him at the very end and collect that 20% off every year once its done done.
