RECRUITING
Peoples-Jones: Michigan’s top wide receiver target in the 2017 class, Cass Tech’s Donovan People’s-Jones told MLive.com he wasn’t quite ready to release his top ten schools but he knows Michigan and Michigan State would be in it. Wolverine247 spoke with a source very close to his recruitment that said:
“Michigan is going to be extremely tough to beat in the end,” they said. “He is a very open-minded kid that is giving other schools a fair chance but I would be shocked if it’s not Michigan, especially with the academic programs he is interested in at Michigan. That's an extremely important aspect of his recruitment. Outside of Michigan, it’s Ohio State, Michigan State, Alabama, Clemson and Florida State that are going to be the main schools.”
Michigan has a done a fantastic job group-recruiting DPJ with Wheatley, Fisch, and Harbaugh, as well as 2017 quarterback commit
Dylan McCaffrey. Michigan is right where they need to be to land DPJ at this point.
With this intel, and the recent surfacing of news regarding some medical school shadowing that he’s been doing, both Wolverine247’s
Clint Brewster and Steve Lorenz have put in 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions in for Peoples-Jones to Michigan.

West coast OLs: We recently spoke with a source closer to the Michigan side of things regarding their offensive line recruiting.
As is pretty well known at this point,
Isaiah Wilson, TJ Slaton,
Cesar Ruiz and
Brett Neilon are the top targets at this point, and there are literally about 15-20 prospects that we would say currently hold offers that Michigan is in striking distance with.
Out west, there are a bunch of four-stars that Michigan continues to push for. Among them are
Alijah Vera-Tucker, Aaron Banks,
Wyatt Davis,
Austin Jackson,
Henry Bainivalu and
Foster Sarell. All six of those prospects are Top150 types, with Davis, Jackson and Sarell being five-star prospects.
When asked about which Pac-12 footprint prospect the Wolverines had the best chance with, the answer was quick:
“It’s definitely Bainivalu,” they said. “The thing is, Michigan has a shot with all of those guys out west, but they really have a shot with Bainivalu. His visit went really well and they’ve been on him really hard.”
Davis, for one, is expected to visit Michigan sometime this summer, and a second source we talked to said they believe the Wolverines are in his top five, and that’s without seeing campus. Given that fact alone, the chances of pulling in Bainivalu may be significant.
Wade: Michigan continues to try to chip away with 2017 five-star cornerback and current Ohio State commitment
Shaun Wade.
Don Brown was recently at Trinity Catholic, and the staff has been pushing for an unofficial visit for a couple months now. Our belief is that Wade is telling them good things because our sources insist that the Wolverines are in the race.
“Michigan definitely has a shot,” they said. “It’s an uphill battle for them, but not one that’s impossible by any means.”
Wade’s commitment to Ohio State has been pretty soft for a while, as he has flirted with Alabama and some other programs, including Michigan. If the staff can get him up to Ann Arbor, they may be able to continue to fight for him.
Singleton: Things continue to look strong on Michigan’s end regarding Paramus (NJ) Catholic 2017 Top100 linebacker
Drew Singleton.
He has targeted October as a potential commitment date, meaning Michigan and Clemson may get official visits this fall before he chooses. While the Tigers remain really the only significant threat for the Wolverines at this point, we were told by one source closer to Michigan’s side of things that he has been the safest major bet on the staff’s board for quite a while.
The Singleton recruitment is one where Chris Partridge’s influence is much heavier than it was with
Rashan Gary. Gary was obviously familiar with Partridge, but his relationship with Singleton is much closer, and it’s what has put the Wolverines in a great spot with him.
