I disregarded your post because your arguments were trivial.

For somebody downplaying GSP's wins, answer me these:
1) Which WW has a better resume than GSP?
2) Who in MMA has a better resume than GSP?

when most of your arsenal is done in the lateral position using a risk averse style that not prolongs a career but guarantees decision wins:

Insignificant. He's still a very tough fighter to finish.

I wouldn't call a fighter with half his wins coming by finishes a decision fighter.

if gsp indeed has nothing to prove by moving up in weight is it because he hasnt solidified his standing as head and shoulders above anyone at 170?? or because he just isnt and doesnt want to be comparable to the all time greats of wandy, anderson and bj penn as guys who conquered their own weightclass and challenged themselves to go up in weight and have continued success

I hear you, I go out of my way to NOT watch the Shogun fight whenever it airs  that shyt was sad/scary to watch. Jones made a Chute Boxe student tap to strikes. That's a statement

Shogun was finished the day he got married. I dont think he can balance family life with training. He seems very much in love. He got married in 2007 and since then hes been getting beat up regularly.

Jake Shields in his entire career [35 fights, spanning over 13 years] has been finished twice. Why are people acting like finishing Shields is some-sort of easy task? He's a very tough fighter to finish. Condit, Okami, Dan Henderson, Lawler, Jason Miller, Daley, Sakurai and Kampmann are some of the people who have failed to finish Shields. That's a very impressive list, on top of that, he's beaten every single one of those fighters.

His career is tarnished now that he tested positive.

there's for sure validity to that, between that and those knee surgeries where he lost a bit of his athleticism. He's never been the most defensively sound fighter. .. even at his peak he's always been hit-able, but had the athletic gifts to get off first in most instances.

Out of curiosity what made you say this? His knees are fukked, so that's what it is, we'll leave that out. But I've always preached that having kids was TERRIBLE for Shogun. More so than any other fighter. You're the only other person I've seen mention it and I agree 100%. Shogun and BJ were the 2 most hurt by kids/marriage EVER.

And herein lies the problem you are so puffed up you cant see the forest for the trees. You are trying to prop shields & go on to draw a list of names but styles makes fights. Dan henderson and ellenberger are the only ppl he has faced in his career with hands/wrestling.We know hendo was injured when they met & look at the way he won that. And as for the ellenberger fight.....

Call me when a striker/grappler that constantly goes for that finish has a stat like you just mentioned, a risk averse wrestler with pillow fists who has been fortunate with opponents only being finished twice (in 35 fights) means diddly squat. I am sure rashad would be have 20 fights with never being finished either if he stuck to the basics that brought him to the dance against machida. When u are a wrestler in american mma the limits are endless

We are going in circles on this particular topic..You have posed this question before and I already gave my opinion. So my advice is take a shower, get a sandwich do some homework and get a clue..

i'm still curious why you guys think it's the kids in particular that's responsible for the current shogun?

as you guys mentioned already, i'm pretty sure it's the 3 knee surgeries... ever since his last one (after the first machida fight), you can tell his movement has never been the same.. he lost every bounce he ever had in his step and now drags his feet like a fukkin sloth.. and it's to the point where he doesn't even kick or knee anymore (which was one of his main stand up tools, not his sloppy hands). i'm also pretty sure that's at least part of the reason why his cardio has been a piece of shyt lately... if not motivation

honestly i dont think we'll see the "old" shogun ever again. which is a fukking shame. he's not even that old

(he's looking in good shape for his upcoming fight though.. but we'll see)
