The UFC are using Bones as a scapegoat for their crappy planning. IMO they need to get rid of Dana, he is one of the reasons why MMA will never be taken seriously in the mainstream, always running his mouth and talking way too much

Makes no sense that Chael gets a title fight after coming off a loss because he is happy to step in on 8 days notice...he doesn't deserve it and props to Jones for saying no
While I agree with most of this post its not just dana going rogue making these moves, I think the ferritatas have their say as well.We just assume its all dana cuz hes puff daddying out there.

I think its quite ludicrous that everyone is pointing the finger at jones missing the point that a guy from MW coming off a title loss was about to be gift wrapped another title shot.Where jones went wrong was in his phrasing on why he was refusing the fight. It came off hoish and invites criticism.. What he should've said was the truth "this is crazy, this guy hasnt fought at lhw in 6 years and is 1-2 in the ufc.Yet I should offer him a title fight?"

Why did this fight need to be for the title again? is what i am asking..Given the circumstances they could just have sold it as a grudge match. If chael took it to jones he would be a made man at LHW.But to put the title on the line no matter what devalues the belt & makes a mockery of the sport. for the guy that says jones needs a publicist

stupid analogy, he would've been better off making a comparison with another sport where its marketed on a main event which pits man vs man.Like I dont know boxing? kickboxing? If one of the fighters of a main event sustained an injury 8 days outside a fight (in those sports) best believe the card would get scraped. The beauty of the UFC in yesteryears was that it didnt have to worry about such a reality.Cuz they had 5 fights on the main card that could easily headline any of the cards in 2012

Jones is a chump. You can try to reason it all you want. You'll find more champs that have taken short fights than haven't (I can't even think of another one).

Pride and UFC have been full of them. Not to mention the large amount of other fighters who have had short fights.

There's more than to the story than soonnen.. Mma junkie also reported the Chris Weidman also offered to take the fight. So jones had options

Yes it's 8 days but jones is being an ingrate.
His first fight in the UFC he got taken a fight on short notice.
He got his title match with shogun on short notice due to injury, 3 weeks, and won.
so the least he could do is take a fight if he's that good...
:stopitslime: jones hadnt just come off a title lost in a lower divisiontho, he had momentum and was on a tear. With rashad injured he was by proxy front of the line. This stuff with chael is just crooked and to try to justify it makes u sound kind of silly brah.If you like dude, cool.If you view UFC as another form of WWE, k.But dont try to rationalize the asinine move Zuffa tried to pull to cover the fact that they got greedy and are stretched too thin
To all those saying he gains nothing from this fight, what about the $$$$? Isn't that all that matters?
Not when the ppv buys are shytty, no..Hence why he wasnt interested in another machida fight..

Hes a chump because he didnt wanna take an easy fight with someone who didnt deserve to be in the same cage as him? What happened to all the "Chael has to fight 3 or 4 LHW to be considered for a title shot" talk

The roster of fighters at 205 is thin, but im pretty sure they could have gave someone a call and had them headline the fight...WITH or without Bones

Yall gotta cut this shyt out...if you dont like a dude thats fine. But these guys literally get locked inside a cage and get punched and kicked in the face for a living....professional fighters in no way shape or form chumps or scared.

He wouldn't fight anyone on 8 days notice. It has ZERO to do with Chael. Stop pretending like Jones did some righteous thing by not fighting Chael (who i hate just as much). He and Jackson both said they'd fight Chael as the next fight. The short time was the problem. Chael was coming in on short notice. Not Jones.

There's been plenty of champs who take short fights. Jones didn't.

Go read his interview on MMAJUNKIE

He turned down the easiest fight possible at 205. He can win all the fights he wants but he'll never have the respect of a Fedor, Chuck, Wand, BJ, Sakuraba, Hughes, Coleman, Igor, etc..

Machida is out

It's Jon Jones vs. Vitor Belfort

I was in the middle of posting this haha

WTFFF is going on? One of the most hectic days in UFC history.

I had a feeling Machida would turn down the fight. Machida was NOT the one who accepted the Bones fight, it was Ed Soares. Machida couldn't be reached, this is because he's in his family farm in Brazil (from what I heard). Guess they must've reached him and he declined..

He couldn't take the fight :manny:

Soares said Machida might not take it cause he just flew to Brazil today (he lives in Los Angeles now) to spend time with his family.
