A popular, top notch fighter like Nick Diaz has to beg for 500k....

The selfish fight fan in me is glad that MMA has fight leagues where fighters all fight under 1 banner. It makes it easier to make fights. But when you have Nick Diaz trying to make half a million and he's a main eventer, well-known and he's been in the sport for about 15 yrs....It makes me understand why MMA fighters are always talking about taking boxing matches.

Not a GSP fan...but he's the biggest draw in the sport....he needs to do how the boxers do since he not w/ the UFC anymore and promote his own fights and only fight where he knows he will sell out(Canada, hopefully some day New York, France, maybe Vegas).

These mma guys need to start doing their own shyt.
u really think GSP can sellout in canada without the ufc? They were hard pressed to have him fight ouside montreal at the height of his career. rush production presents gsp vs chavier benoit isnt going to rock the house in vancover :russ:

u gotta have money behind you to do that, only 2-3 mma fighters could realistically do that
so ufc would have u believe I think only gsp, chuck and forrest are the only fighters the ufc have made proper wealthy. I get the sense most of anderson/jj's riches is from their endorsements not pay packets from zuffa

i think anderson has money, he signed that 6 fight extension within the past 2 years

gsp gets a lot of money from endorsements, hes the biggest canadian athlete out there

there's no doubt in my mind that a GSP fight in Montreal/Toronto twice a year would sell out. He would probably make more money this way then he would fighting for the UFC 4 times a year. I really think GSP should look into this.

Dana White says he thinks Dillashaw-Barao 2 is next. Thinks Barao deserves the rematch.

Barco got dominated. The only thing fans can say is he fought like a warrior with a concussion for 5 rounds. Other than that he got destroyed. If they do it in Brazil, I can live with it, though. Thought he'd be fighting Assuncao.:yeshrug:

But who would he fight?

Agreed, I think Johnny would use his wrestling a lot.

He would lose if he traded with Lima the full fight.

If George tried to self-promote his fights, it would be tough at first...but I truly believe that a lot of these dudes with win streaks that are nearing the end of their UFC/Bellator contracts would see the opportunity to face GSP...potentially make more money...and have more freedom wouldn't pass up on that opportunity @ 170. GSP and Askren...that's a good fight right there to start. And just being on a GSP card/ppv would potentially lure guys from other weight classes to want to be the co-main event for GSP fights.

Or this could actually just make the pay in the UFC better as you could have guys using possibly not re-signing as leverage so ZUFFA could pay them more to stay instead of leaving to do business w/ GSP.

The contract battles from 155 - 185 could get interesting...if George could stay dominant for about 3 more years and solid/good guys left to fight him or fight on his cards, if might give the other big dawgs like Jones the courage to not feel like they need to belong to a league. I wish Golden Boy would get into MMA but the old heads that control boxing generally hate MMA. I guess WAMMA would have to get involved in order to make the belt(s) relevant :manny:

I dunno...I'm spoiled w/ all the MMA that's on tv right now(especially coming from UFC's Fox business deal) but it just doesn't seem right that certain boxers only have to fight in 2 or 3 cities their entire career and they may not even be top notch in their sport but they sell out those venues on a Saturday night and make good money b/c they have a hometown/ethnic following but UFC is holding events on a Wednesday in the middle of nowhere and you have 2 guys in the main event that have no racial/local/national/etc. connection to the place...the attendance is average...and then Dana's making all this damn money and he's got top 10 hvwts. like Miocic who still works at the fukkin fire dept. And yeah yeah I know Bryant Jennings is a top 10 hvwt. and he still has a regular job too but if he can get the Stiverne or Klitschko fight, he won't be doing that for long, I bet.

I'm just rambling...I dunno....
