I know why Roman Brady dislikes this fight. :mjpls:
it's a waste of hector's time he already beat the dude that beat Woodley. Woodley had a chance to finally show his mettle when the bright lights were shining and he shrunk, if he wins he's just going to muddle things. Hector wins and peeps will just look at it as Woodley is a gatekeeper. This is s zero sum game for Lombard and considering his age :patrice:

1) Woodley is the best opponent available for Lombard. It's not a waste of his time at all.
2) @ the bolded, the same can be said for Lombard when he fought Boestch and Okami (both were favorable match-ups too)
3) If Lombard wins, he's right at a title shot. That is not a 'zero sum game' for him.

Who else would you have Lombard fighting?

Like I said, Lombard/Woodley is a logical match-up.[/QUOTE]how does this win help Lombard more than the shields one? :why: It seems zuffa are just going to jds him until he loses/there are no other contenders

Woodley is top 5 WW, a win catapults Lombard to either a title shot (or 1 win away from a title shot).

bonnar/ Ortiz is going to get more eyes than marshall/Cooper. You put on a match like
like this and a Brooks or Chandler like cat breaks out, star is born. Can't expect ratings with kartikyan vs spocoli they tried now they off that. Time to get more eyes on this thing, less nerd shyt more fukkery

True but it just reeks of corniness. Picking up broke down UFC leftovers. Thats the reason why TNA is in the position its in. And Bonnar is a multiple time PED offender, You really want to sign him?

ahh back to the rankings like the ufc is really going to put hector in a number 1 contender spot on the heels of beating woodley who has never been seen as the guy has failed at every major hurdle and has no titles.

I am talking in reality here, Woodley has lost all 3 of his biggest highest profile fights 2 of which to opponents hector destroyed. The skinny on him is that he's a jobber to the upper ech.If Lombard beats him in the court of public opinion it does little cuz its backward booking for reasons I already stated above. Woodley is also 2 fights removed from an unofficial mock title eliminator loss. You can use rankings all you like, this win has less impact than shields, its never a good look when you way up a win and you just say that fight just keeps him in the win column as oppose to guarantees him a titleshot

ps this fight will tell us who Woodley is not where Lombard is headed hence why its a waste of time.

if the media didn't feel war machines affiliation to bellator was important I doubt bonnar getting popped will hurt them. In a perverse way it might help, cats might be like "bonnar""I remember that guy""thought he was dead""what's bellator" :gladbron:

For the most part, rankings are a good tool and make sense. :camby: with your 'but rankings..', acting as if rankings are completely meaningless.

Woodley is not very consistent, but he's still beaten some top fighters. To say he's failed every major hurdle is just dumb, Condit was a major hurdle and he passed, DHK was a solid hurdle (top 10 fighter) and he passed.

You still haven't answered who you would have Lombard face? Naming a fighter (MacDonald) who has fight lined up is not going to cut it.

Joe Soto replaces Renan Barao, will fight T.J. Dillashaw in UFC 177 main event

UFC 177 just took another major hit.

The pay-per-view card, which initially was headlined by a pair of title fights, will now feature a title challenger stepping up on 24-hour notice.

Former bantamweight champion Renan Barao, who was scheduled to face off againstUFC 135-pound champion in the main event of Saturday’s card in Sacramento, Calif., was forced out of the bout after complications during his weight cut.

Joe Soto (15-2), who was set to take on Anthony Birchak on the preliminary portion of the card, will now take on Dillashaw for the bantamweight title. Combate and ESPN reported the news.

The original co-main event, between flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso, was moved to UFC 178 earlier this month, after the Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier light heavyweight championship fight was also delayed due to an injury.

Barao passed out at the weigh-in and his fight with Dillashaw is off. Dillashaw's new opponent is Joe Soto.

Imagine if Soto wins, lol.
