Marvel To Make IRON FIST Into A Feature Film For Netflix - PeelTheOrange.net

Well, as one of our sources pointed out last week, Marvel was considering replacing the Iron Fist series with a Punisher series. As it turns out, it could actually be a good thing for fans of Iron Fist, as we just received this email from a source who works within Marvel Creative but wanted to remain anonymous:

Marvel will be turning Iron Fist into a Netflix exclusive feature film. This will give Marvel extra time and a larger budget for this project. The Punisher will replace Iron Fist as one of the four Defenders.

Interesting. Take this with a grain of salt but that could be pretty cool. If you remember, this past summer the Netflix CEO said that they were open to making feature films for Marvel characters and this could be a way to start.

Marvel's Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada talks those Iron Fist Netflix rumors, Punisher in Daredevil S2, bringing Jessica Jones to the small screen, and more.

Marvel & Netflix's Iron Fist Lands Scott Buck as Showrunner

Just a few weeks ago, there were rumors flying that Iron Fist might be off the table for Marvel TV and Netflix, rumors that both CCO Joe Quesada and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb have dispelled in recent days.

Now, Comicbook.com has confirmed (with help from our friends at HH) that Iron Fist isn’t just moving forward, but has chosen a showrunner. Scott Buck, who served as EP on Dexter, and a producer on Six Feet Under, will take the reigns of the fourth and final solo series with Marvel and Netflix before they meet for a Defenders mini-series.

Marvel describes Iron Fist as follows: "Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."

Those two shows, both on premium cable, certainly carried the dark tone that’s been established by the first two series, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but little is known about the plan for Iron Fist so far. The character is by far the most all-out “superhero” out of the four Defenders, with a background that includes a mystical city, a superpowered punch, and kicking a dragon in the face, all pretty far afield of the light use of superpowers and mysticism we’ve seen on the shows so far.

No new timeline has been given for Iron Fist’s debut. Daredevil season two is next, coming Spring 2016, with Luke Cage season one later that year. Jessica Jones launched a few weeks ago to critical acclaim, so it’s possible a second season could be on the way there, as well.

First Official IRON FIST Synopsis Revealed As Marvel Confirms Showrunner

Well, that didn't take long! Just hours after a rumour started circulating about Iron Fist getting a showrunner, Marvel has made it official, revealing an official synopsis which sheds some light on what we should expect. Hit the jump for details on the "fiery" series...

127739.jpg

Marvel has today confirmed that Scott Buck (Dexter, Six Feet Under) will indeed serve as showrunner and executive producer on the upcoming Iron Fist series on Netflix. "Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet," said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb in the press release. "We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders." Buck meanwhile sounds very excited to tackle this character's live-action debut. "I’ve always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters, and that’s what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and “Iron Fist” to life with Marvel on Netflix." After worrying reports that Iron Fistmight be scrapped, it's good to see the show take such a big step forward, and it wouldn't be at all surprising to see casting news early next year with production beginning in the summer. That's just speculation for now of course, so we'll have to wait and see, but here's the official synopsis:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

I hope we get early seasons Dexter version of showrunner Scott Buck when Dexter was the shyt and not the later seasons version of showrunner Scott Buck where the show became total ass.

This is the guy who was in charge of Dexter's worst season
He was in charge of several of Dexter's worst seasons. But he was also in charge of The Trinity Killer season too.

He was NOT in charge of the Trinity Killer season. Clyde Phillips was Showrunner of the Trinity Killer season. Clyde Phillips did Dexter seasons 1-4. Buck did Dexter seasons 5-8

So he was still a co-exec producer then? I know Buck was a co-executive producer for a time and for some reason thought it was the Trinity season where he got promoted.
So his first season as a full exec producer was the Lumen season? :scust:
