Man, I know some of y'all gonna be mad, but.....
There's such a thing as having TOO MUCH nostalgia.
True. I love that Corgan is trying to make NWA an alternative for fans that want and miss old school southern rasslin, but I didn't think they were going to do a carbon copy of the OG NWA Mid-Atlantic studio.
I'm rooting for them, because the 10 Pounds of Gold Series has been excellent. I don't mind that he wants to keep NWA a small-scale no-frills promotion, it's unique in this day and age, but you still need to inject some modern qualities into your presentation.
It's going to be a tough go for this new series. Out of all notable North American promotions, NWA is dead last (yes, even behind ROH) and I hope they can find their niche with an audience and a solid roster. A roster is where they are really going to struggle because AEW, Impact, WWE, ROH, and MLW have everyone semi-decent locked up. I don't want to see a bunch of Atlanta-based jobbers filling out half the show every week.
Hopefully Corgan can keep borrowing and partnering up with other promotions for future tapings and events. Getting CMLL & New Japan to send talent to their Crockett Cup was a pretty deal, IMO. Hopefully that door is still open for future exchanges. Would love to see Aldis head to NJPW for a tour or two and defend the belt there.
