@omnifax how is and what reasons is Warnock not a great candidate overall?

I'm basing it on his answers to the questions asked during the debate as I had never really listened to him outside of his initial speeches given after he won originally. He couldn't give a solid answer on several very simple questions and it appeared he was somewhat unprepared. It should have been a slam dunk as far as being able to run circles around Walker who can't really make a complete thought but he stammered quite a bit on some easy topics IMO.


Edit: I know Warnock is not a politician by trade but this debate makes me wonder if he was propped up to run off the name recognition of MLK's church who's purpose was just to rubber stamp the overall Democratic party agenda. I'm not saying that everything about the agenda is bad but it doesn't seem like he has much ambition to be a politician outside of that aforementioned role.

Yea, Warnock should’ve went the Biden route when it came to answering that abortion question, because the answer he gave wasn’t it. He didn’t answer the question. It’s also obvious he doesn’t agree with the practice, which anyone with a brain knows, because he’s an, uhhh, pastor . Just tell the audience you don’t agree with it, but it’s a woman’s choice. That’s all he had to do, but he couldn’t even do that.

He danced around that eviction shyt. The do you support Biden for a 2024 run was a yes or no question. He danced around that.

Herschel couldn’t even put a sentence together, and while he didn’t sound as uneducated as he has in the past, you were still able to tell that he is uneducated. That badge stunt was embarrassing, and the debate should’ve ended right there. Herschel should not even be up there; which makes Warnocks performance even more shocking and disappointing.

This is a mess. Neither man on that stage was real or genuine. As a man that lives in Georgia, it was hard to stomach any of the crap seen Friday.

Breh, why everybody gotta be propped up to run? I work in politics. Folks just decide to run for office. There is no shadowy arm behind them pulling their strings and commanding them to run, I promise you

I'm not promoting a conspiracy theory I just think it's odd that someone who hasn't had much history in politics outside of some recent activism decides to run for US Senate (the elite among office holders) and wins first try. Also noting how the party supported him doesn't necessarily mean I think someone is pulling the string it's me saying they are giving overwhelming support to an unproven candidate in a crucial election.

I'm not promoting a conspiracy theory I just think it's odd that someone who hasn't had much history in politics outside of some recent activism decides to run for US Senate (the elite among office holders) and wins first try. Also noting how the party supported him doesn't necessarily mean I think someone is pulling the string it's me saying they are giving overwhelming support to an unproven candidate in a crucial election.

Breh... I bet if you go look at that election, he wasn't the only first timer that threw his name into the race. You still have to get out there and win and convince voters. What helps you is if you make relationships. That's how you get that support. I met a girl yesterday that is planning a first time run for office and was telling me about all the relationships she's been making across the state to lay the groundwork. Nobody is pulling her strings. There's nobody behind the curtain. She's just a woman who, had no interest in politics before, but is now interested and is going about it the smart way.

You could do it too if you would stop thinking that its someone else who holds all the power. No it's just you making a decision and then getting out there and putting work in.

I think the reason folks try to look past all that and say it's a shadowy group running folks for office is because in your mind that absolves you of any responsibility for your community because "you can't do anything cause you weren't chosen" in your mind when the reality is that nah, you're just lazy and a conspiracy theorist. Respectfully.

That one senator that I found that had not held a lower office got picked by the governor as a candidate in a primary that he won then ran unopposed overall. Again Raphael Warnock had no political history other than some recent activism around the ACA and poverty, held no previous office, and won a crucial election that determined which party controlled the senate. Even Jon Ossof who also ran and won had worked under a house of reps, and had previously ran for the house.

That last part I don't even know what you are talking about. I vote and I'm getting organized within my community. This isn't about thinking you can't do anything this about recognizing if a candidate is someone you should support or not and being more strategic with your vote. Recall that my post you originally replied to was in response to a poster asking me why I thought he wasn't a very good candidate and I think what I explained earlier is part of the reason.

What senator are you thinking of? Because off the top of my head I know that tommy tuberville won his senate seat against Doug Jones without having any experience.
