He's been very good at breaking serves and a great at returning/defense

I think Tsitsipas got a chance :hubie:

I will say, Tsitsipas' mental seems a lot stronger right now. He was very calm in this match, even when he made mistakes.

Novak seems to have his number, he will go to the backhand side and break it down game by game.
Novak will demolish him in the Final.

This match against Tommy Paul is a patented unfocused first set by Novak. Was up 5-1 and about to go into a tiebreak.

I swear, in a lot of these prime time matches in Slams against overmatched opponents, he'll throw the first set just to keep it interesting for the crowd. He has around 25 unforced errors already.

Edit: He got the break to close it out 7-5.

Novak can drop a set and it not be an issue to him. He re-groups really fast.

Paul not winning that first set is a back breaker for him because Novak will probably just walk it.

I think aside from the the meltdown during the 3rd set tiebreak, Stef was brilliant last night. Not "he could beat Novak" impressive, but definitely "legit top 3-5 player for years to come" impressive. Also, like Sabalenka, he seems more emotionally stable on the court than he did 12 months ago.

His backhand was looking weak as fukk. He is a top 3-5 player but that shows how trash the Tour is.

I'm looking forward more to Sabalenka/Rybakina honestly

Women's draw been the more interesting tournament for the last week or so, even though there's been a lot of a straight set matches there too. Men's draw died when Nadal got hurt and Rune lost (prospect for the future).

I think Sabalenka wins, but regardless it's good to see both players thrive. We need to see a rival for Swiatek and from what I've seen in the last year she struggles against power hitters like Rybakina and Sabalenka.
