I don't think he has the ability to brick wall thru matches and tournaments like he was 2 years ago...Maybe age, wear & tear, or getting the slam has diminished the hunger...who knows.

Even Djokovic who for the most part just depended on being solid is playing way more offensive now a days and to me that's going to be the key for Med going forward.

Edit - I gotta aplogize to Tsonga...I diminished his career early but he would win some slams right now

Indeed on Tsonga. Crazy how inconsistent this new gen is when it comes to slams. As we know, they'll do some stuff in Masters or 500's, but when it comes to consistently going deep in best of 5 at a GS, they just don't have it to do it consistently. As much as I like Alcaraz, something is telling me that he isn't going to dominate the tour. I think young kids around his age range are going to be on his NECK.

Sabalenka got the monkey off her back :wow:

Glad for her; very talented athlete with some agonizing meltdowns at the US Open

Bruhs…on Talk Tennis somebody made a thread about something historic Tsitsipas would be doing IF he won tomorrow…..

Be the first (and ONLY) man to beat the Big 3 at one particular slam

Def Fed at the 2019 AO
Defeated Rafa at the 2021 AO
Novak at the 2023 AO?? :lupe:
He’s going to lose.

I really think the last time they played in a GS final Tsitsipas caught Novak at the perfect time, fresh off that exhausting 4 set war with Rafa in the Roland Garros semi. He was able to grab the first 2 sets while Joker was still in a haze but eventually Novak woke up and took over.

Tonight is the opposite, the literal worst time to catch Novak. He's completely healthy, focused, and determined to win it all after what happened 12 months ago.

Well dont forget he pushed Novak to 5 in 2020 too at the FO but…..

He dont have a get out of jail shot when things get tough to beat Novak. He will have to be playing an A++ match to win.

it's funny, in the womens circuit in the last 10 years how many players only have 1-2 slams and thats it. Im guessing its gonna be the same in the mens when Novak and Nadal retire.

The womens final was dog shyt tho... just slamming balls as hard as they could from the back of the court :hhh:

Only top woman who utilizes a ton of variety is Jabeur. Been a problem of the women’s game for awhile…also the men’s too but the younger players showcase more variety than their 25-30 yr old counterparts.
