Never said it wasn't, but when people try to claim he's the GOAT i just ..the clay surface inflates his stats to a retarded extent. I'm not arguing that he's a legend nor the GOAT on clay. Just he's not better than Fed, has lasted a waaay less longer period, has way less accolades and Fed's sccomplishments are spread evenly across the surfaces. Think how many french titles Fed would have if not for Nadal? Cos although he only has one title, he was head and shoulders above everyone else except nadal for like 5 years


And plus fed doesn't dig out his own ass and take ten years between each point so just on default fed>>>>>>nadal...oh and to add the h2h thing, in all seriousness, their primes didn't sync up at all and nadal in his prime had the exact game to exploit fed's weaknesses so he still wont ever be placed above fed in goat rankings imo

I prefer Rafa over Fed even though I love both. Rafa is just a bad matchup for Fed just like Novak has always been a bad matchup for Rafa. Rafa fans can't seperate H2H from who's the most accomplished overall which is what Fed easily is.

What you mentioned about Fed and clay is underrated too. Not to mention he would have more FO's w/o Rafa, but even with Rafa around it wasnt like Rafa was blowing him out on clay. Thats why he's an all time clay courter of the open era imo. Only the 2008 FO was absolutely a washing. Fed and Novak has ALWAYS given Rafa issues on clay.

Let's not forget that the case of Nadal and his "inflated" GS titles number is the same as Sampras with Wimby (7/14), Emerson and the Aussie (6/12), Connors and the USO (5/8), Borg and the French (6/11) and even Novak with the Aussie (5/8). The Nadal case is not rare at all and there are greats who just are too good on some surface in the era they play.
