It's BS because it is headline grabbing nonsense just like they did with running stories that rents were doubling and tripling everywhere when it was just a few landlords that did it. What did it get us? Stupid rent control rules which pushed rents UP and made rentals even more unaffordable.
The article i smisleading. There are many factors that play a role in affordability. Are we talking 5% down or 20? What is the credit history, what areas? A detached house in a world class city isn't cheap anywhere.
Cost of living in Toronto has gone up considerably and it's not just housing. One of the bigger problems is wages being stagnant for decades. Canadians are generally underpaid but get raped in taxes. Do you know what it feels like to pay land transfer tax twice when you buy property?
These articles will only embolden the group of entitled people who feel home prices should be cut in half "just because" but won't evne look at all the other things that make housing unaffordable.
Just my 2 cents.
