All fair points.

In time, the Ontario govt will take the best practices of places like Colorado. Largely because they haven't got a choice. The scheme will make money (not as much as they'd like) and then they'll adapt to cater to consumer needs better to make an even larger revenue.

I think my initial point should be noted. Due to wealth disparities, these private weed sellers are largely not the type of people who'd be prosecuted for possession and trafficking offences. I think it's unfair that monied persons get to profit most of off the dismantling of the war on drugs on the cannabis front. With publicly distributed marijuana, at least the dividends are spread with more equity and racialized persons have a greater chance at employment
I agree with this. I've also been concerned about where black people fit into this market but that's a whole other issue. We don't have the growers etc for business support in the first place.

I support the Ontario gov't selling weed. At least this way, black people will be hired.

Don't see it. Black people are not even positioning themselves to benefit from this.

The only reason I'm ok with this being legal is because of the possible revenue. Trudeau really has no option since he's spending like crazy.

On a comparative level, black people are more likely to be employed by this publicly-owned company compared to private entities. I think that's usually the case if you look at stats between public and private enterprises in Canada.

I know a fair number of black lawyers. Somalis, Caribbeans, Naijas. Dont get me wrong its not all doom and gloom, Im not @Supreme Leader Reinscarf  but politics is definitely an area where we are missing - especially behind the scenes.

We're under-represented in provincial politics. That's worrisome. We need folks in federal politics to influence criminal law reform.
