The ability to control an ongoing situation and smaller situations under that umbrella is sought after in men. "Another person", the woman, the vast majority of the time seeks to be alleviated from that responsibility and desires a man capable of handling it.

This does not have anything to do with controlling another person. The "control of self" you can appreciate is the basis of this, not submitting to passions of a relationship for the sake of maintaining it.

I would first wanna know how does one quantify who loves more or less?

A person can say that they love you, but that doesn't mean that they are telling the truth? Maybe some people conflate love with lust?
