It makes a difference when there's no replay value. 5-10 hours, no MP, very little incentive to play again is justAt least cut the retail price in half or more.
Replay value is all in the eye of the beholder though. If the game (any game really) was fun enough to you to go thru it 1nce, that alone could garner it replay value to you to beat multiple times. Most of the "classick" games ya'll fawn over in nostalgia could be beating in that timeframe or less too and the only replay value that was there was just that, replaying thru the game enjoying that same experience again.
I liken the timeframe of a game to a movie in terms of time to monetary value. Seeing a movie on the big screen is anywhere from 10-20 bucks a ticket for roughly 2 hours of your time. A SP game is usually 4-5 times longer than that, so 50-60 bucks is the right opening price for that experience. Plus, with all the multitudes of venues to get games for less than that day 1 even anyways, on top of games having considerable sales a mere 3-4 months later, I don't see the complaint at all for short games. Unless you the type of gamer that only can or only prefers to play 2-3 games a year, why would you want every game to be long as fukk?
Ionno about ya'll, but I know for any SP game, I don't try to rush thru the first play thru, usually stretch it out longer myself just exploring things, both within styles of playing the game or just exploring the world, so my time spent is usually at least 3-4 hours longer than the "average" 1st time play thru anyway. And I buy anywhere from 20-40 games a year, but may only beat 12 or so, so having long as games does not really benefit me.
