This dude Cigs lol. :pachaha:

I just finished upgrading my system. i5 6600k, Z170 Mobo, 16gig DDR4 RAM, GTX970 4gb, Samsung Evo 250gb SSD, basic WD 1TB HD in addition to the current one and Windows 10. It's a nice upper middle class build. :yeshrug:

what's the performance
Hard drive prices need to drop soon :beli:

I been waiting on a 4TB under $100 for a couple years now :beli:

i hope you are not talking about SSD's.

Dude, I'm having @Ciggavelli teething problems with my tech right now. :snoop: I got Geek Squad to install everything (don't judge me). They said it'd take two-three days but they finished in three hours, probably because I paid so much money and they'll want that business again. They left an optical drive power cord unplugged so I had to go in and fix that. Had to find the Z170 CD to install the proper drivers. Thought my GTX 970 was screwed up or the PCI slot was fukked so I opened the case and reinstalled it. Turns out I just needed to install Nvidia drivers. I figured that but the shyt took so long to recognize the card the first time I thought something was wrong with it. GTX is up and running, ran a few minutes of Kombustor to make sure it was stable but a lot of my games won't load. Skylines, GTA V, American Truck Simulator are a no go. Probably because I have two installations of Windows. One on my SSD and the other on the old HDD. I'm thinking the old and new system files are causing issues and I plan to move the non windows stuff over to the new empty HDD and format the Windows crap on the old one. As you can see I'm not quite Master Race just yet.

As far as basic tasks go it's pretty responsive and quiet. There's something wrong with the graphics though because I can't get a Windows Experience Score because the Direct 3D test crashes.

Clean install Windows and download all the necessary drivers (there are programs I can't remember the name of that can do that automatically for you, but they're easy to find). Then install the gpu driver. Run Heaven for an hour to check your gpu out. Or run Furmark for like 15 minutes if you want a burn test. You're overclock might not be stable, so take that off until everything else is working. Run Memtest 86+ overnight to check your ram (make sure your ram is not over or underclocked). That should test the basics. If that all passes, you're likely good. Your pcie slot might be bad, so try the second one if that's the case. You have a long few days of reinstalling and testing to make sure everything is okay. It sucks, but it's what you gotta do. I feel your pain breh. PC problems are the worst. Good luck :salute:

yeah, it sounds like you need to reformat and get a fresh start. see if you can get everything up and running with just windows (and all necessary drivers, etc) on the SSD. don't even plug in your old HDD yet

edit: and as far as your old programs, games, etc., you really should reinstall everything. I know it's a pain, but a lot of programs need to have their registry files, ddl's, etc., in the right place to work properly

with Steam games there's a trick to do it without having to download everything again:

-first copy/move (backup) your \Steam\SteamApps\common folder (this is where all your games are) elsewhere

-I would uninstall Steam completely, and then reinstall the client

-exit Steam, and copy the above folder back into the new Steam installation

-start Steam, go into your Library, and select the option to install the games you have in that folder. it should find the files, and not have to download everything again

edit2: also a lot of your games' save files will be in your windows documents folder, so you might want to back that up as well

Thanks for the help, I got everything up and running. Had to upgrade to Windows 10. Reinstalled the mobo drivers and the Nvidia drivers and I could boot up my games. Something was fukked up with Direct X before the upgrade.

Hell Yeah, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio for free on Steam

Click a game that you don't own and then "Install Game" on the game's page, it may be below a buy button. You only need to do it for one game, you will immediately get all of them.
