Because in case you haven't noticed many people are struggling and just want to play games. You have to consider it from all angles

You basically conceded to my point. $100 in your pocket who do you ride with for a CPU? A brand you are loyal to or the best performance? It's not about if that extra $80-$100 will give you massive gains...its if it makes sense at the time to do so.

Yeah but we arent talking about $100.

We are talking about performance.

You just immediatly jumped to the "best price/performance" example

but you arent giving examples of best price and performance.. you are just giving examples of cheap processors that cant perform :demonic:

How much was his processor? I wasn't even aware that piledriver was out.

Price/Performance is always on my mind...I need the most out of my money at all times with no compromises.

We dont know how much his processor was

winb83 asked isnt intel better performance

and you immediately jumped into price / performance which intel still wins that argument as well :smugfavre:

For $100 I'd get an i3 over any AMD offering any day of the week. Its 4 threads > any of the AMD sub 100 offerings. Not to mention the better upgrade path. :smugdraper:

I'll give you upgrade path, but I will have to run some results through CPUBoss to check. I doubt an i3 can hang with an unlocked quad

:usure: my last few processors were AMD

but they cant handle the newer games. They just cant. I also stream, which is very CPU intensive and between the newer games and streaming AMD just gets shytted on.

budget computer? sure amd, whatever. But price/performance wise? Intel, hands down.

Once you get into the higher price range yes, but lower to mid? I'd still ride with AMD

:snoop: the price range on processors is

$100-300

$100 will get you an i3 or FX-4100 type processor
$200 will get you an AMD 8350(top of line AMD) or i5 (which will out perform the 8350)
$300 will get you an i7 3770k

mid and higher range is intel, hands down

how is this even an argument ? I swear you hate losing arguments. Just accept ya L and enjoy ya friday night..

So you rather spend $150 on an AMD mid range processor than $180 on an Intel i5
If thats all I had and with a cheap amd mobo? Sure, I am sure it will handle any game I throw at it.

You guys are making too much out of this CPU debate...its not the one to be had YET.
